Dave Phillips INFORMATION/DISCUSSION/PRESENTATIONS SPECIAL DISCUSSION Dave Phillips discussed the purpose of: Discussed Shared Governance Model-Process-Cycle to the committee. Information can be found on the shared governance website. Reviewed Technology Council Handbook with the committee. Discussed the Evaluation of Governance Effectiveness 14-15. Reviewed all the supporting outcomes of what the committee did good – strongly by majority; concern for the committee to think about is what didn’t work and what to do to make it better. AREA REPORTS/REQUESTS/QUESTIONS Students – Faculty – Staff – Functional Areas (Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, Admin Services) Discussed technology and recommendations about decisions to make as a whole. Colleague (software) is not available to faculty. Should we allow access to Colleague? Is there a need? CORE Team meets every other Monday and decides what to take on. Online Parking permits, three groups that weigh in and prioritize projects such as , BOGG, Student Discipline (software). Make technology more exciting by bringing in speakers – we can do our own presentations? Marnie Glazier suggested a newsletter to communicate beyond the committee? Giving more insight on the Technology Development Council and what it can do to implement needs/changes. ELumen which is a data holder has been used by Hartnell for a year now for PPA’s. Renata Funke said King City use of the smart station is very slow – band width issue more of a computer issue. Renata Funke asked about the new Science Bldg re: hardware and software. It would be nice to do a tour of the Science Bldg. Steve Otero discussed use of VHS and converting to CDRom; need permission from company due to copyright and close captioning policies. Dave Phillips suggested that faculty check with deans to order CDs instead. Renata Funke said this group can list what is going on? For faculty it may be hard due To that they are in class and not available Assessment Orientation – State mandate to lead. Online chat does work – online counselors have FAQs built in and able to put links to make it interactive. Finding one to intergrate would be hard. Technology Development Council Page three Renata Funke discussed the compressed calendar issues re: hours per week, increase 40% by reaching out to increase enrollment – do live steaming. Dr. Lewallen is interested in this. Interest in video to incorporate more visual media and artistic media in film, television, media and radio. Sports broadcasting in related area with thoughts about building a Video SubCommittee. It would be great to include use of PDC for Training. Marnie Glazier said MCOE facility is looking for partner. Deborah Stephens said that in the Library – Digitizing Room is not used and the Mac’s in the Library are out of date as well. 1600 Parking Permits were handled online – no lines at the Cashiers Office for Fall 2015. Foster Care Program – all computers replaced – much faster now. King City – One virtual room. Need to check bandwidth to support this virtual room. HEP upgraded office and now has Thin Clients. There is no but no DVD players with the Thin Clients. Mac Lab updgraded and now available as an open lab for Mac use. Contact Jerri Nemiro re: schedule.
