to the social, cultural, and economic vitality of our region and the global community.
HARTNELL COLLEGE MISSION STATEMENT

going to be covered should be requested from the speakers.
Laura mentioned that for the CANVAS breakout session there were 95 participants, which was
much more than the room could house. In the future we should consider how to deal with
this:
1. Have a sign-in sheet ahead of time so people can be better accommodated.
2. Have more sessions at once?
3. Repeat popular sessions?
Laura mentioned that CANVAS and other trainings are provided all year around and Janeen
can put an announcement for faculty about that.
For the next year the committee should send a survey inquiring of all what topics they would
like to have covered in the conference.
Campus will be notified about the recordings, as soon as they are edited and posted. Dr.
Twenge presentations will be available on CD’s at Lori’s office.
b. Next year the EinR could be a keynote speaker in the student success conference.
2. Mr. Rushton Hurley was selected to be our next Educator-in-Residence. His dates are March 22;
May 4 and 6, 9 and 10. His main topic is technology. Steinbeck Hall will be reserved and each
session is scheduled to last 90 minutes.
3. Approval of January 2016 travel and conference grants:
Deadline was extended to January 29. Materials will be sent to Google Drive on Monday, February
1 and results will be ready by the end of the 2nd. Terri will send notifications on the morning of the
3rd. Increase in the amount granted will be considered in the beginning of the next year.
4. Discussion about whether we should have a different cap in funds when the employee is a
presenter, or when out of the state/country travel is involved. Moises will draft a new process
specific to this situation for our consideration.
5. Demonstration of flex request system:
Laura gave a brief presentation of the fpdc@hartnell.edu – Isupport system for approval of flex
credit. The main advantages of this system are that everything will be kept in one place, and
communication to each requester is immediate.
6. Strategic Planning Progress Report
Employee development was one of the topics included in the progress report presented at the
last board meeting.
