Investigative and Specialized Services The Mott Community College Department of Public Safety is open 24 hours each day, 7 days a week. As such, we are always available to assist you with vehicle unlocks and jump starts, emergency medical assistance, accident reports, lost and found, domestic violence assistance, criminal investigations and so much more! Sergeant John Fontana is our Lead Investigator, Clery Compliance Team Coordinator, Property/ Evidence Manager and is a certified member of Mott’s Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT). Sgt. Fontana joined us 5 years ago after retiring from the Genesee County Sheriff Office with over 29 years of service. John has extensive experience as a paramedic, special investigator, and knowledge of current federal, state and local laws. He works closely with the Genesee County Prosecutor’s office to ensure the accountability of criminal offenders. As a Jeanne Clery Act specialist, Sgt. Fontana maintains federally mandated reporting items and adheres to Clery regulations. He is also part of our motorcycle patrol often seen giving junior police badges to children at the Flint Farmers Market. Sergeant Nancy Metcalfe, Workforce Education Center/ Day Shift—Sgt. Metcalfe earned her Associate Degree in Criminal Justice at Mott Community College and is a graduate of the Law Enforcement Executive Leadership Institute. With her comprehensive knowledge of sexual assault Page 2 Department of Public Safety and domestic violence laws and victims’ rights, Nancy is our lead in obtaining Personal Protection Orders (PPO) and is a great resource for information. She will walk you through each step of a domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, or dating violence legal process. You’ll also see her each spring coordinating and working with a local elementary to bring bicycle safety to area children. In the fall brings the Annual Community Halloween Party that Sgt. Metcalfe coordinates for over 1,800 kids of all ages. Nancy retired from the Flint Police Department after 23 years of service and joined MCC in 2001. Day of Dialogue 2016 American Association for Women of Community College (AAWCC) AAWCC, along with a collaboration of college and community partners, presents a Day of Dialogue. Join a distinguished panel and special guests in the dialogue about how community colleges can STOP a culture of sexual violence against women.
