Ford Direct Loan Program for all institutions, effective July 1, 2010. With the Direct Loan Program, the lender is the federal government, through the U. S. Department of Education, rather than through banks and credit unions as with the Federal Family Educational Loan Program (FFELP). FREE FINANCIAL AID WORKSHOPS AT MOTT COMMUNITY COLLEGE Students currently receiving or planning to receive federal educational loans for the 2010-2011 aid year will need to complete a Master Promissory Note (MPN) and entrance counseling for the Direct Loan Program at https://studentloans.gov/myDirectLoan/ index.action Financial Aid and Enrollment made easier with the help of MCC Mott Community College offers free workshops to help understand and apply for federal financial aid programs. We are committed to helping you access the federal financial aid programs that you may use at MCC or the college of your choice. How do the Direct Loan and FFELP loan programs differ? The two programs are essentially identical – the interest rate, eligibility criteria and most repayment terms remain the same. The key difference is the source of the loan funding. For FFELP, the funding comes from a bank or credit union and in the Direct Loan program, the funding comes directly from the federal government. If you wish to attend a workshop, we will help you: Understand the Financial Aid process. When it does come time to repay the loan, you may be able to benefit from some of the Direct Loan program's more flexible repayment options. Learn about the various Financial Aid programs available.
