A Prayer for Lent
Lord of heaven and earth,
You lead us up the mountain to show us
something new,
You show us the beauty of life, the wonder
of creation, the goodness of family, the fun
of good friends.
You ask us to let go:
Of pride
Of Selfishness
Of Meanness
You invite us to open ourselves:
To gentleness,
To Love,
To You,
Lead us up the mountain this Lent and
back home to you this Easter.
Amen

Visitor and Parent Sign In…..A Must

Please do not escort students directly to
class; rather, report to the main office.
It is important for the safety of all students in the school that parents wear a
visitor’s sticker. Please always sign in at the office and obtain your visitor’s sticker. It takes only a minute to help
keep your children safe. Students and staff feel safer when
a visitor’s sticker is visible on unfamiliar faces as well as
familiar ones. Your cooperation is appreciated.

Use a filtering software to protect your child from potentially harmful sites and programs.
Have computers in common areas where they can be
easily supervised.
Ensure games your child is playing are appropriate for
their age group.
Assist your child with creating usernames and passwords that aren’t easily identifiable.
Limit the amount of time your child spends online.
Your child should NOT be communicating in online
Chat Rooms. A supervised and regulated MSN Messenger account is acceptable.
Explain to your child that pictures should not be taken
and/or received online.
Encourage and enjoy family-fun websites like
pbskids.org, ytv.com,. Tvokids.com, and Disney.com
which contain useful information and fun games
Inform your children about the negative effects an
online profile (like Facebook profile) can have on their
life. Check out nsteens.org for a cool and informative
video regarding profile penalty.

we have taken proactive measures to secure the safety of
staff and students by locking the front door. Visitors may
gain entrance by pressing the buzzer mounted on the wall, 
beside the door. The buzzer activates a 2-way speaker and
camera system. The Office will then be able to tell who is
at the door through a TV monitor and thus, regulate visitor
access to the school.

our school community and to enhance student
achievement and safety, the use of a PED is strictly
prohibited in the school (including portables) or during school related activities (such as retreats, field
trips, sports events, etc.).
Failure to comply with this policy may result in the
confiscation of the PED and/or disciplinary action as
outlined in the Catholic Code of Conduct 2001. The
school and the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School
Board assume no responsibility for the loss, recovery,
repair or replacement for any PED brought unto
school property.
It is the policy of the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District
School Board that PEDs are to be kept out-of-sight,
turned off and not used within school premises or
during school sanctioned events. To prevent the loss
or damage of PEDs, the school encourages students to
leave their PEDs at home or in their lockers.

School Organization 2015 - 2015
Please ensure that when you are submitting money with your child for
trips, food orders, etc. to please treat
them separately and send in the exact
change. (We are not able to provide
change or tamper with money in envelopes). Please do not combine siblings
or single child orders together. This
creates confusion for our Accounting Department. Your
co-operation in this matter is appreciated.
School organization for next year is in the planning stages.
Timelines for making decisions about the number of classes
and teacher assignments will be tentatively determined by
the end of June. To help us with our planning for September 2015, it would be appreciated if you could let us know
now if you will be moving out of our school area over the
summer.
March Break
March Break is from Monday, March 16th to Friday,
March 20th, 2015. A reminder that school is closed
during this week. We hope
that everyone has a safe, restful and joyful March Break.
Flexible Boundary Procedure
Creating Classes for Next Year
We will be beginning the process by making up the class
lists for the 2015-2016 school year this April. This is a complex process, and is done in consultation with this years’
teachers, support staff and administration. In each class we
strive for a balance of learning styles, a balance of gender, a
balance of learning needs, and a cross section of abilities.
If you as a parent wish to provide input into the process,
please take into consideration the following guidelines:


A reminder to parents/guardians of students that are at
Corpus Christi School.

This procedure is reviewed annually. Permission is granted under the following conditions:
i)
ii)
iii)
Transportation is your responsibility. The Board
will not provide either transportation or additional
supervision for students admitted under this pro
cedure.
This permission for attendance will be reviewed by
the Principal, annually, no later than the end of
March.
The student admitted under this procedure does
not automatically become eligible for the
secondary school serving this school. If it is not the
secondary school he/she would normally attend,
application for Flexible Boundary consideration
will have to be made to the secondary school
principal at the appropriate time.
If you would like to continue to be granted permission under this procedure for the 2015 - 2016 school year, please
put your request in writing by Tuesday, March 25th, 2015.
Confirmations for Flex Boundary will be sent out in May.
Input must be in written form to Mr. Filippozzi no later
than Wednesday, April 8th, 2015.
Frame your request in terms of educational contexts
e.g. your child’s learning needs/style; information not
already known to the school; tips on what has worked
best for your child in the past
Please be advised that letters which cite the names of
individual teachers, or names of children you wish to
be placed with your child will not be considered.
There is no guarantee that requests will be fulfilled, but all
will be considered.
Catholic School Learning Team
Catholic School Learning Team
Our Catholic School Learning Team and School Faculty
continue to work on goals developed by school Team and
faculty. Along with our overall school goals faculty and
students will focus on Learning Skills and Work Habits.
Each month in the newsletter we will share a description of
the Learning Skill that will be focused on by all faculty and
students.
In the month of March we continue to focus on Collaboration. The following are sample behaviours which are designed to help identify strengths and support of the learning skill of Collaboration:
Collaboration: consider how well your child:
 Accepts various roles and an equitable share of the
work within a group
 Responds positively to the ideas, opinions, values, and
traditions of others;
 Builds healthy peer relationships;
 Works with others to resolve conflicts and builds consensus to achieve group goals; and
 Shares information, resources, and expertise to solve
problems and make decisions
At home you could consider how well your child:
 Takes turns and shares with others
 Works well with family and solves problems in a positive way
 Shows respect to towards others at all times

FAITH AND PARISH CORNER
The Virtues
March Virtue of the Month is KINDNESS
During the month of March, we celebrate the virtue of
“KINDNESS”. God has given us the gifts of friends and
companions to keep us company and to help us get along.
Every person in our lives carries the Spirit of God and so
every person is our brother and sister through Jesus Christ.
As brothers and sisters who share one Holy Spirit, we are
all valuable to God. We all deserve to be shown concern
for our welfare and our feelings. We have all been given
the Spirit called kindness. Kindness can only be seen
through actions. It’s not enough to say I will be kind or I
am kind. We must show that we are kind by our words
and our actions.
We want you to

newsletter!!
LENT
(February 18th — April 2nd, 2015)
Lent is a season of turning to God in simplicity and sincerity as we prepare to celebrate the joy of Easter. Our hearts
feel heavy as we remember our sins, but we are also confident in God’s mercy and forgiveness.
The three great Lenten practices are prayer, fasting and
almsgiving (giving money or other help to the needy). Doing these three things will help us to keep Lent as a holy
season. In our prayers this Lenten season, let us be open to
God’s kindness as we promise to pray with more love,
avoid treats and make a contribution to a charitable organization, such as ShareLIfe.
