Blessed are you, loving Father,
for all of your gifts to us.
Blessed are you for giving us the
gift of family and friends.
We pause and give you thanks,
Lord, for all these gifts:
For the rains that give life, for
the harvest.
As we rejoice in your kindness,
We pray for those who are in need.
Open our hearts to them
And teach us to be generous to others as
you are to us
Thank you, God.

Pupil Accommodation Review Guideline (PARG)
PED POLICY
Pupil Accommodation Review Policy Public Consultation
Personal Electronic Devices on Board Premises
and/or Board Sanctioned Events for EducationThe Ministry of Education released the new Pupil Accomal Purposes:
modation Review Guideline (PARG) in March 2015. This
guideline sets expectations for all school boards on managing and reviewing underutilized school space, including
potential school closures, and for the greater coordination
and sharing of planning related information between
school boards and other community partners.
The guideline requires all school boards in the province to
develop or revise Pupil Accommodation Review Policies
and to invite public input into the policy before it is finalized.
A survey to collect feedback on the Dufferin-Peel Catholic
The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board
acknowledges the value of the use of technology for learning. Students are permitted to register and use personal electronic devices (PEDs)
on board premises and/or board sanctioned
events for educational purposes, under the direction of staff and only with parent/guardian permission (GF
066, Network User Application and Agreement). Students may
register their PED for the purpose of connecting to the board
wireless network. Students are required to adhere to the student
“Personal Electronic Device Used with WI-FI Network Student
Agreement” and the “Network User Application and Agreement.” Please be advised that the Dufferin-Peel Catholic
District School Board will not be responsible for any entry. No parents should be accessing the school through

any other doors. This will allow us to welcome you and
PEDs are to be used responsibly and should not interfere with learning; their use must comply with the Catholic Code of Conduct, board policies and procedures.
Any personal communications (i.e., phone calls, text
messages, etc.) will continue to be directed through
the main office. Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in a loss of PED privileges and/or any
other consequences deemed necessary by school administration.
The school principal may authorize limited acceptable uses of
personal electronic devices during school-sanctioned activities
for a specific designated purpose outside of instructional spaces
and/or in common areas. In the next few weeks parents/
guardians of students from Grades 4 to 8 will receive information regarding our implementation of the PED Policy at Corpus Christi Catholic School. The implementation of the PED Policy for FDK to Grade 3 students will come at a future date during
this academic year.
Students are responsible for the safety and security of PEDs at
all times and the Board assumes no responsibility for lost, damaged or stolen devices.
ask you to sign in at the office and to wear a sticker as a
visitor or volunteer while in the building. In addition to
ensuring the security of the children in the school, this
will allow staff to get to know parents quickly. We ask for
your co-operation in making this Dufferin-Peel Catholic
District School Board system work.
School Late Policy
It is very important that students arrive
to school on time and ready to work, as
late arrivals disrupt instructional activities and classroom routines. We respectfully request that whether students walk
or are driven to school, that they are at
school before the bell rings at 8:30 am.
Once the bell has rung, students who come in through the
front doors must get a late slip from the office and this will
be recorded in our students’ absence records. When we
review records and notice a concern we will be in contact
with parents and our school attendance officer to investigate and support the student arriving at school on time.
We thank you for your support.
Student Emergency Information
Reporting Student Absences
Your child received a package with a number of forms requiring your attention. Of particular importance is the Information Verification Form. If you have not done so, we
ask that you take a few minutes and check over this information to ensure it is accurate. Please make any changes
needed directly onto the sheet and return to your child’s
teacher by Friday, October 9th, 2015. Please add area codes
for all phone numbers. ALL SHEETS NEED TO BE RETURNED TO THE SCHOOL as soon as possible, even if
there are no corrections needed. It is very important that
we have accurate phone numbers and emergency contact
persons in case we need to contact you in an emergency.
Daily attendance and punctuality are important. Thank
you to all the parents who have been calling the school
when your child has been absent due to an illness or an
appointment. Please continue to report a student absence,
to the school at 905-897-7037 and press 1 for attendance. If
you are leaving a message, please SPEAK CLEARLY, INDICATE THE DATE, SPELL YOUR CHILD’S NAME AND

Distribution and Storage of Medication
Some of our students require medication during the school day. All medication is to be stored in the office except where directed by a physician.
Board Policy requires that we have
signed request/authorization forms
from the parents and the supervising physician in the
office. These forms are available in the office. We have
sent information home to each parent in this situation that
we have been made aware of and encourage you to follow
up. If you have not received these forms, especially for epipens, please contact the office. In some cases of asthma, the
doctor may advise that a student should carry a puffer. We
comply with advice of doctors in these situations, but must
be made aware of the arrangements in writing using the
appropriate forms.
When medication is approved for storage, it must be labeled with the student name, name of medication, prescription information and dosage. The medication is to be
brought to the school in the bottle that was provided by the
pharmacist. Please do not have students deliver medication to the office; it should be brought in by an adult. Med-
serious injury, or worse to occur, before we correct this situation. We have contacted the local municipality and municipal by-law enforcement staff will be ticketing all cars
parked in designated fire routes, or in “no parking zones”
on the municipal streets surrounding the school.
It is imperative that all parents and guardians driving their
children to school adhere to the traffic circulation plan and
comply with the traffic and parking signage on the site. A
copy of the traffic circulation plan for the school is attached
to this letter; no p ark ing zo nes and bus lane s are identified
on the site plan for reference. It is equally imperative that
all drivers follow the direction of staff managing the
traffic circulation on the school site.
Staff are on site 15 minutes prior to the school bell. If you
must drive your children to school, please consider arriving earlier in the morning to drop off your children, and
please drive courteously, complying with the traffic circulation pattern, signage and direction given on the school site.
We certainly understand that last winter was particularly
harsh in terms of weather conditions and may have contributed to some of the congestion. But, the safety of all
children and staff must be considered at all times.

The Virtues
October Virtue of the Month is Empathy
God has given us the ability to form connections with each
other—to live together. Empathy helps us to connect and
live together in safe, caring, inclusive communities. Empathy refers to the ability to identify with and feel other people’s concerns.
What Empathetic People Do:
 Listen attentively
 Watch people’s body language
 Notice and respond when someone is upset
 Can name her/his feelings
 Can see a situation from another person’s point of view
 Know that different people may feel differently about
the same thing.
