Welcome to the Graduate School & Year-of-Service Fair, a
collaborative event presented by the Xavier University Career
Development Office and the Dorothy Day Center for Faith &
Justice.
The Graduate School & Year-of-Service Fair will offer you the
opportunity to have conversations with representatives from a
variety of graduate programs and post-graduate service agencies in
order to explore programs of interest, gain information about the
application process/timeline, and network with program
representatives, adding a personal connection to the application
process.
This booklet includes descriptions of registered programs, table
placements, and a map to aid you in navigating the Fair. Consider
taking some time to look through these materials within the
research area to determine the programs you want to visit during
today’s event.
When meeting with a program at today’s Fair, the following tips
may be helpful:
• Greet the program representative with a firm, confident
handshake and smile
• Introduce yourself and share your interest or curiosity about the
program
• Ask questions about the program, timeline, application process,
and selection criteria
• Take helpful brochures, informational handouts, and a business
card
• Offer a copy of your resume
• Thank the representative for his/her time

Fellows serve for a year in teams of four at ASP’s sites along with a Center Supervisor, coordinating more than 1,000 volunteers as they help 40-50 families live in
homes that are warmer, safer, and drier. Fellows also challenge themselves to hear
and respond to God’s call on their lives, by participating in a supportive Fellows
community, guided discernment activities, and personal mentoring.
Fellows receive room and board, an end-of-term award, and a small monthly
stipend. ASP Fellows not only live in community, they serve side-by-side in the
mission of eradicating substandard housing.

Assumption Mission Associates (AMA) is a ministry of young adults in collaboration with the Religious of the Assumption in their mission to effect change in
society through prayer, education and community building. Placements are in
England; Worcester, MA; Chaparral, NM; and the Philippines. Ministries include:
immigrants, children, ESL classes, after-school mentoring programs, urban
gardening, prison ministry, and parish ministry.Volunteers live in intentional
communities with other volunteers while working with and supported by the

young people of all backgrounds for a year of full-time service to keep students
in school and on track to graduation. At City Year’s 26 urban locations across the
United States, teams of highly-trained corps members serve full-time in schools
as tutors, mentors and role models. During their term of service, City Year corps
members receive a living stipend, health insurance, professional development, student loan forbearance, a variety of scholarships for graduate school and more.

Appalachian region of Kentucky. Our year long volunteers work to support
various programs serving the poor in Appalachia; Home repair, youth programs,

also offer a 10 week Summer Internship program supporting our Outreach and

Franciscan Outreach Volunteers is a 1 year (renewable) program based on the

work at Franciscan Outreach (FO), a non-profit agency providing emergency and
long-term services to those who are homeless, poor, and marginalized in Chicago.
All volunteers receive room and board, health insurance, $200 monthly stipend,
and an AmeriCorps Education Award (when available-based on federal funding).

Glenmary’s Group Volunteer Program is designed to give participants a firsthand
experience of missionary service. Each week-long session is a retreat-like mission

Good Shepherd Volunteers provides full-time volunteers with the opportunity
to work in social service ministries and to use their God-given talents to serve

Nine month full-time internship with the Youth Ministry Team working
primarily and extensively with various models of junior high and high school
retreats, gaining ministerial skills such as public speaking; small and large group
