Billboards What is the purpose of this billboard? The purpose of this billboard is to tell people what texting and driving can cause and to stop them from texting while driving. Who is the intended audience? The intended audience is anyone who drives; mostly people who tend to text while driving. What are the appeals? Logos- It says don’t let texting blind you because texting causes you to take your eyes off the road basically blinding you from where you are going. Pathos- Pulls at the audience’s emotions that texting while driving can stop the wrecks. What is the focal point? The focal point would have to be the letters ‘DON’T LET TEXTING BLIND YOU’. The letters are right in the middle of the billboard and are white to contrast them from the darker background. Background Information • This was created in San Francisco for the San Francisco Safe Driving Strategies know as the TWIT Spotting Project. • It’s a project in which if you are caught texting and driving in the San Francisco area, a local photographer would take a picture of you and you would end up on the billboard. • This was to try and shame and embarrasses people of what they are doing and hope it will stop them. • US, Handsfree.
