Prayer for a New Year
Come Holy Spirit, Spirit of the Risen
Christ,
Be with us today and always.
Be our light, our Guide and our
Comforter.
Be our Strength, our Courage, and our
Sanctifier.
May this year be a time
Of deep spiritual growth for us,
A time of welcoming your graces and
gifts,
A time of forgiving freely and
unconditionally,
A time for growing in virtue and
goodness.

I would like to thank the St. Helen community for your generosity on behalf of the St. Christopher’s Parish. The
families we helped were extremely grateful for the kindness
you extended to them. Please join us for this month’s virtue
assembly on January 29th at 10:45 am. We focus on our
virtue of Self-Control this month. God wants us to do what
we know and feel is right.
God Bless,

A special thank you to Mrs. Rocco and Mrs. Ryan for organizing the beautiful Christmas Concert, to Mr. Bonaccorso
for his technical support, and to the staff who worked with
their students in preparing for a wonderful concert. Thank
you to Mrs. Sharon Hobin, our trustee, for attending. Thank
you to our custodial staff, Mr. Jarrett, and Mr. Camello,
for getting our school ready and for setting up the chairs in
the gym.
Make your own sunshine as we keep warm in the January
chilly weather.
Come Holy Spirit,
Be with us today and always.
Amen.

A reminder from your Eco Team:

Eco-school, we are asking parents, guardians and students to please pack Eco-conscious lunches. Avoid
necessary wrapping and prepackaged items. Use reusable water bottles and containers for lunches. Every
Wednesday, students’ cooperation in this initiative.
Bus Cancellations/School Closing
During the winter months inclement weather may cause
disruption of bus transportation and regular school operations. A decision to cancel school transportation and/or
to close schools is usually made by 6:00 am and will be
announced on the local and TV and radio stations.
Changing Weather
Students are asked to ensure that they have a pair of indoor shoes at school. We ask that children change their
footwear when they come inside in an effort to keep our
classroom floors clean.
Children are expected to participate in recess activities
and are reminded to dress for the weather. Children may
also wish to have a change of clothing at school in the
event that they get wet while playing outdoors.
Snowballs
Just a reminder...Please emphasize to your children
that School/Board policy DOES NOT ALLOW
THROWING SNOWBALLS, KICKING SNOW,
OR “SNOWING” OTHERS ON SCHOOL PROPERTY. Please remind your children of the seriousness of these activities and the potential injury.

JANUARY—SELF-CONTROL
This month we will celebrate the virtue of SELF CONTROL.
A person with self- control…



Is patient.
Knows how to wait his/her turn.
Can calm himself/herself down and think before reacting to a situation.
 Knows how to avoid physical aggression (hitting,
kicking, pushing, fighting).
 Can think things through and do what is best for all.
Through prayer and concentration, we can become better
at exhibiting self-control.

the parent does not provide an up-to-date immunization record or a valid exemption.

notices during an eleven week period will be
issued an order of suspension from school by
the Region of Peel’s Medical Officer of Health.
Snack and Treats for Students
Student Morning Arrival
Please be advised that students should not
arrive at the school earlier than 8:45 am in
the morning as there is NO teacher
supervision at this time and your child’s
safety is our primary concern.
We are asking that all parents please refrain from
bringing in eatable snacks and treats to the classrooms. Several students in our school suffer from a
severe food allergy to all nuts, peanuts and all nut
products. There is also a Ministry PPM where the
purpose of this memorandum is to set out nutrition
standards for food and beverages in publicly funded
elementary schools in Ontario. Again, we thank you
for your co-operation.
School Mass
Our New Years Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 6th at 10:30am here at
