Opening Prayer
Introductions were made.
Minutes for the meeting held on June 18th, 2014 were approved by L. Zoghieb. L. Figliola upheld the
approval.
Principal’s Report:
Athletic Highlights: Junior girls/boys volleyball teams were successful in receiving the silver medal, the
boys advanced to the boards and received 5th place, Co-ed soccer team received a trophy, junior girls
cross country team brought home a banner, 23 total athletes within St. Gregory will move onto the
boards
-New curtains will be installed on the school stage
-Inuit games for the primary students (gr.1-3) were enjoyed. We welcomed the guest speaker/Olympic
athlete from Nunavut
- The waste free challenge begins this month
-Today there was a meeting involving two Korean teachers who will join St. Gregory for 3 weeks (17
days) in Mr. Burke and Mrs. Antonio’s class
-Picture retakes on Nov. 3
-Roots of Empathy program began and was well received
-Gr. 4, Nov. 7 Sacrament of Reconciliation begins
-Nov. 10 – Get Ready Program begins
-Nov. 11 Report cards are sent home, red/black day, and Remembrance Day assembly
-Nov. 12 See/Hear Testing Nov. 12, Money Tree Play presented to the kindergardens-Gr.5,
Parent/Teacher Interview evening
- Nov. 14 PA Day
-Nov. 17 Korean Ministry Visit
-Nov. 20- Gr.8 Info night at St. Marcellinus, tour/presentation
-Nov. 24- Decorations by Parent Council

LUNCHES:
-a few add-ons
-received a request for straws which were purchased by Jennifer Greenman
- A suggestion was made to change the payment term for lunches from Jan-June. Two payment options
may be preferred
-It is necessary to eliminate meat product during Lent
-Ms. Kelly- suggested an award winning Musical presentation by Charlie Kert
www.littlefingersmusic.com, Primary Rock Garden Party; Guitars…$600, Junior Workshop…Queen We
will Rock You $600, 45 min presentation performed in the gym. The Council agreed to fund the
presentation. Suggestions were made to request that both presentations occur in one day and an
attempt will be made to request a lengthier performance.
-A Student Transportation Fee concern for sporting events exists. It has been brought to our attention
by parents that the transportation fee students are responsible for are too high. Any transportation
concerns should be directed to Mrs. Krolewicz’s attention immediately. It is understood that if students
are participating in a family tournament the school will cover the cost of transportation. If the sporting
event is invitational a $2 fee is collected/student for the individual team sport.
-The Gr. 8 Overnight confirmation retreat will take place at Mt. Alverno this year.
-The Ottawa trip will continue next year
-Fundraising activities to aid in trips: cookie dough, ($5 from every bucket will be put towards a general
trip fund), cookie dough pick up Dec. 10, forms send out Nov. 10-21
-Dec. 19 last day of school
-A Bunker is necessary for the storage of the JK/SK Equipment/Activities/Supplies. The location of the
possible bunker is being evaluated and exact fees are being researched. The Council is supportive of this
requirement and will attempt to assist financially.
-Smart Boards are being installed in Mrs. DaCosta 3-4 class, and 2 Kindergarten classes, 9 classes occupy
smart boards within the school
-OAPCE- 76th Annual Conference, keynote speakers, workshops on May. 29, 30 at Bishop Smith Catholic
S.S. Pembroke
-St. Joseph Church: Nov. 1 All Saints Day, Nov. 2, All Souls Day
-Attempts are being made to improve the space available in the Milk Room
GOALS FOR THE YEAR:
-Provide support to the full day kindergarten transition
-Increase support towards the arts curriculum
Summary of Last Year’s Events:
-ProGant towards Health and Well Being by Dr. Dave
-Provided support and celebration for sacraments
-Big Box of Cards Fundraiser
-Foster of Community, Decor of foyer for Christmas
-Support Nutritional Needs of Students through lunch and snack programs
(Sub/Pizza/Milk/Frozen Yogurt etc.)
-Supported Families in Need
-Hosted Family/Community Activities (ex. Annual BBQ)
-Provided Transportation for Mass/Parish, to help foster the mass TRIAD
-Provided Organization/Curriculum Support/ Agenda’s K-8
-Classroom Financial Support (games/sports equipment)
-Supported Terry Fox Walk and Play Day with student “treats”
-Served thousands of pancakes on Shrove Tuesday while collecting donations for Share life
Chair’s Report:
Saturday- St. Joseph S.S., Session on Council training, 8:30-11:30, Second option in April including
workshops and marketplace (fundraising)
The Sesac Faith Building Workshop basket was received last week by Mrs. Greenman and Mrs. Krolewicz
