Candy for the Troops! We have collected A LOT of candy!! I’ll be sending all of it tomorrow, so
I’ll let you know the total pounds on Monday! Students also made cards for our Veterans. I’m
so glad we took advantage of such an important opportunity to help our veterans! Thank you to
all the families who donated or encouraged your child to donate!
Movie Night – TONIGHT! 6:00 - 8:00 featuring "Inside Out." $4 in advance or $6 at the door. All
proceeds support the 5th graders' trip to Taft.
 The Seth Paine PTO No Catalog Fundraiser - The money collected will be used to support
teacher grants, student enrichment programs, assemblies and much more. If you have not made
a donation yet, please consider doing so. The form can be found on the Seth Paine website. For
those who have donated - Thank you for your support! You can monitor the progress of
donations on the Seth Paine Dragon Thermometer in the lobby at Seth Paine.

Boxtops and Labels for Education! Please don’t forget to send them in!
Start collecting & sending in your gently-used sweaters! As you begin hitting up all those fall
clothing sales, thinking about getting rid of last year’s styles, or going through your child’s
sweaters to discard items they’ve grown out- PLEASE consider sending them into school! We
will be upcycling sweaters into mittens to give to those in need in December. We will have a
collection bin in our room, so please feel free to begin sending in anything you’d like to
donate. We will send out more information about this wonderful project as we get closer to
December.
Book Fair - Come to the Book Fair for a monster of a good time! The Book Fair will be open

READ ON TO SEE WHAT WE ACCOMPLISHED THIS PAST WEEK:
Math- Students have been working really hard this week on 2-3 digit multiplication. They’ve learned
about volume; what it is, why we use it, when we use it and how. Be sure to ask your child all about it!
We’ll continue with volume next week. It looks like our Module 3 assessment will be late next week,
depending on student need.
Literacy
·
·
Reading- We’ve continued to learn more about poetry this week. Students have analyzed some
poetry to dig deeper and really understand meaning of a more complex poem. They worked
with partners and had a conversation around a poem as well. Students took the poetry
assessment yesterday and it will be coming home today in Friday Folders. They should be really
proud of how far they have come in their understanding!
Writing- Students are writing in their journals, and will be working on another narrative piece.
Science- This week students took the Chapter 1 assessment and worked so hard! This assessment will
also be in the Friday Folder today.
As always, please feel free to contact me with any questions, concerns or compliments.
