7 Days in Thailand: An Introductory Travel Research Project
Aim: To develop a contextual understanding of the setting of the novel through an in-depth search of Thailand and
South-East Asia.
Task: Alone or with a partner, prepare an in-depth travel itinerary, complete with pictures and
information for a planned trip to Thailand. Your trip must aim to educate a tourist about the Thai
environment, culture and society.
Requirements / Checklist:




Your budget is $3,000 for a 7 day period
You must include all travel information – cost of flight, transportation costs e.g. bus/train,
accommodation and length of stay at each location. (*see travel itinerary handout attached)
You must travel to at least 3 significant landmarks / destinations that would provide
information about Thailand’s culture.
A labelled map of your destinations is a must! (see map below)
Format:

There is no set-format for your travel itinerary. You are to present this work in the form of a
poster.
*NOTE: Attached are a couple of travel Itinerary formatted worksheets. Depending on how you want to
plan and structure your trip you may choose either. There are also others available on the web or you
may create your own. Remember to include a map and images.

All information must be cited (in parentheses) and included in a bibliography that MUST be
submitted with your final work.
