Report of the SGA Executive
Report of the Legislative Vice President, Brock McMorran
As mentioned in my report last week and as is evident by the lack of “locked” computers in
the office, Now former Senator and Student Life Chair Johari Idusuyi has stepped down from
her position and has left the University. Having said that Ryan, Seth, and I have moved
forward in the process with filling the vacancy. Last Friday, the three of us came to the
consensus that Senator and Student Life committee member Needom Mitchell would be my
recommendation for new committee chair position. In addition to this, Ryan, with the help of
me and Seth, has recommended Sophomore Lauren White as the new Senator. Lauren has
accepted the position. Both of these matters will be Chapter Seven-ed at Monday’s meeting,
so once again, Senate should be set to go with a full board.
Secondly, the Leadership Interns are hosting an event for upperclassmen (Junior and Senior)
called “Are You Ready for the Real World?” tomorrow night from 6:00p – 8:00p in Kennedy
Auditorium. This is networking event with free dinner and they are looking for a few more
attendees. If you are interested, please let me know at the end of my report.
Lastly, as I am getting back into the swing of things, only minor progress and follow-up has
been completed on my platform items, but I hope to have a more detailed report for you next
week.
Stop by and talk to Lydia and I, our door is ALWAYS open!
What is the dress for the dinner? Business casual.

Report of the Administrative Vice President, Lydia Gerlach
Travis and Lauren, thanks for the snacks. Next week, Jacquelyn is bringing “something.” I
want to apologize for my nasal-iness, I'm feeling a bit under the weather.
Here are some updates for you:
Logo committee will be getting another senator now that Nick Albin is no longer on SGA.
Nick will be giving recommendations for a potential senator to become involved in the logo
process. I'll ask for interest at the next Senate meeting. Hopefully at least one senator
interested will overlap with Nick’s recommendations.
I know I briefly gleamed over excused religious absences last meeting, but I wanted to go
into a little more detail on how we can make sure students are aware that they can be
excused from class for religious absences. At Xavier there is a Center for Teaching Excellence,
where there are several of what they call "Brown Bag" Discussions. During this time, topics or
issues are brought to professors' attention. We are going to get involved with this process to
discuss the importance of making excused absences for religious observances clear as an
option to students. This center also creates the New Faculty Orientation in the Fall. We're
going to try to have this issue incorporated into this orientation, too.
It’s finally WorldQuest season! On Friday, February 10th from 6:00-9:30 in the Cintas
Banquet Room, ISS is hosting the its annual WorldQuest Trivia Night. This will be an awesome
night filled with incredibly difficult world trivia and a delicious dinner. If you are interested in
being on an SGA table, please sign up on my door. We will be covering the costs. But please,
be absolutely positive you are coming before you sign up—we don’t want to buy too many
tables like last year.

Report of the SAC Chair, Morgan Zuziak
Event List: Thank you Ana and LeeAnn for the feedback on the Committee Chairs, as you
know I have made an event list that shows all the events for the semester, when the

our lovely new copy machine.

list or update any wrong information.

Report of Advisor, Dustin Lewis
Senate did not have a meeting this week so I do not have a Senate Minute other than to
remind you to welcome Lauren White to SGA as the new senator and to also congratulate
Needom Mitchell as the new Student Life Chair.
I wanted to make sure to draw your attention to the article in the Newswire today related to
the recent staffing changes. I believe Dr. Chadwick’s comments speak volumes about the fact
that we, as a staff, have been told that change is coming in the reporting structure and
alignment of the Provost Area. If anyone has any questions related to the recent staffing
changes, I will be happy to answer as best as I can.
Pre-Event Meetings for SAC events have been going really well. Thank you to all of the event
chairs who have met with me. I’m now caught up through the second week of February with
these meetings. As a side note, we will soon be having Post-Event Evaluations for all of our
events on OrgSync. It is your responsibility, as the event chair, to complete these with your
committee. The evaluations will be brief but will provide a record of your assessment on the
event along with notes and comments of what went well and what you would recommend to
do differently if the event was programmed again.
The Spring Involvement Fair will be next Tuesday and I want to invite all of you to come and
to volunteer with Annette for the SGA Booth. The fair is from 11am-3pm in Gallagher and the
best part is that all of you are eligible for giveaway prizes! We are raffling off a Blu Ray Player
and also an Amazon Kindle Fire!
Finally, just a reminder that as event chairs, all of you are responsible for updating events in
OrgSync. Right now, the only SAC events listed are a few of Late Night’s events. We really
need you to get into the system and get updating. The calendar on the website pulls directly
from OrgSync and does not have any information for students interested in attending your
events.
Has Dr. Chadwick shared if he is going to fill positions?
Dr. Stinson position will be posted in march, other positions not known.

Friendly amendment to fix grammar.
Friendly amendment Accepted
Senators elected by students, SAC not elected, this is why senators approving
Intentionally creating disconnect between contradicting Constitution and Rules of Order. If
ever a contradiction, constitution overrides.
What's next waiting for constitutional amendment or constitutional review year?
Constitutional changes that aren’t necessary wait for constitutional review.
Can I ask Ryan's opinion because he has been on both SAC and Senate and would appoint.
Ryan- I understand why you want to do this, if we do this, do it all now, don't leave it open
ended. I advocate that there be a conversation beforehand. Senate needs to be engaged in
process.
Friendly amendment to leave out senate’s approval.
I agree with Dustin and Ryan that we should be consistent. Should start with constitution.
There is still a check by a voted member because it will be approved by President.
Don't think there is anything wrong as long as we have plans for the future.
If I were a senator and was approached about changing the constitution I might be offended
that you went ahead and changed your rules of orders without consulting me.
We can bring about a constitutional amendment. Our right to change them as much as theirs.
Refer to Seth for opinion.
Seth- The majority of senate did not know why they needed to approve appointments. There
is no discussion, we just pass it and we're done. As far as voted member, president will
approve. The majority of senate will not care.
What if we change the rules of order and then the condition does not get change. I think we
should change constitution first so we avoid having to change the change later on.
Straw Poll: keep motion the same -14 Friendly amendment to change -12
Friendly amendment not accepted
Amend motion - I think it is important that Rules of Order and Constitution match up
In Favor - tie
Opposed- tie
Lydia decides- do not want an amendment as proposed by Matt.

Committee Reports
Publicity, Annette Frac
We will be doing the Mad Raffle in the caf this Friday at dinner time, I will email a signup sheet
for late night to help out. Also if you haven't done so please sign up to help work the spring
involvement fair. Publicity will update the display boards, but we still need people to help out
Tuesday. Finally Xavier Showcase and Collaborative Poetry need to meet with us soon for
promo.
Late Night Programming, LeeAnn Scherbauer
Hi SAC! As said before Late Night Movie and MAD are this weekend. If you are going to see
50/50 this weekend, Blake and Whitney will be working on Thursday and Jacquelyn on
Saturday. MAD is finally coming together and we are quite excited for this weekend. We
decided for food to get hotdogs and a nachos machine. Becky and I will be going shopping
tonight for raffle prizes, bingo prizes, some craft supplies, and the rest of the food. The
volunteers for the mechanical bull will have an extra step to just letting people participate. For
students to participate, they must sign a risk release form. All students must be 18 to sign for
themselves. There will be copies of the forms and pens down there for you. I may have to
move some volunteers around just in case this station is a job for more than two people to
handle. Setup will begin around 7pm. If you can be here to help, it will definitely move the
process along faster. Also, if you all could place the MAD promo as your profile picture on
Facebook it would mean a lot to Late Night! We are striving to have a great attendance on
Friday and every little bit helps. Publicity will also be doing a raffle in the Hoff with assorted
western themed prizes! Lastly, thank you for all who responded to Abby with wing choices.
She has been working really hard thus far on this event! Sorry for this being a little longwinded but I just wanted every to be updated with what will be happening this weekend!
Concerts, Matt Morefield
Thanks for passing my amendment today.
Open Mic is on Tuesday the 24 from 7pm to 9 pm in the atrium. Please come out and support
concert committee and tell anyone you know that you think would enjoy an Open Mic night.
Our next event is the collaboration with BSA Poetry. You will see a proposal next week for this.
Thanks!
Campus Traditions, Colleen Reynolds
Hey SAC! Campus Traditions had a very successful committee meeting this past Monday. We
discussed Ski Trip updates and brainstormed event ideas for the rest of the semester. Look
out for seven different events this semester from Campus Traditions! Promo for Ski Trip is in
and ready go. Special thanks to Becca for doing such a great job. If you are interested in
attending Ski Trip, ticket sales will be next Wednesday, February 25th from 1:30-5:00. If you
plan to snowtube, tickets are $15.00, and if you want to ski or snowboard, tickets are $20.00.
Thanks!
Life & Culture, Analisa Condon
Hey SAC! Life and Culture had their first committee meeting at Starbucks and it was super
successful! We are really looking forward to Cooking at the Cafe on Jan 30th @ 8pm. Tell all of
your friends to sign-up! Also, I apology for not having a proposal for this week for Xavier Fest.
We had to move the date due conflicts with Cintas. This will affect the magnets--but whoops!
Be looking out for that proposal next week! That’s all for now!
