Cantus’ program, “The Four Loves”, explores our most complex human emotion which has served as a timeless inspiration for artistic expression. He is founder and musical director of the New York Choral Artists, and for 33 years was conductor of the world-renown Westminster Choir. Flummerfelt will join with the Calvin Capella, Calvin Campus Choir, Women’s Chorale and Calvin Alumni Choir for an event that pushes all boundaries. Over 150 vocalists overwhelm the Covenant Fine Arts Center stage for a one night only event featuring several works by Brahms and the formidable Faure’s Requiem. The group specializes in repertoire that mixes strings, woodwinds, and piano, but expands and contracts as repertoire demands—they’ve added percussion, voice, trumpet, an extra viola, double bass, and even accordion on occasion.
