A delegate may receive no more than one trip in the same year. The St. Croix County 4-H Leader’s Association provides financial support. In return, trip recipients are expected to help at Fair Clean Up, work at the County Fair and help promote 4-H and the available trips. Trip recipients must talk about the trip at 2 or more clubs (one club may be the member’s club) AND one of the following: a) Put up a booth or display at the County Fair to promote the trip b) Write an article for the newspaper about your trip c) Set up a display at the Leaders’ Recognition Banquet d) Make a poster and display it in a local business e) Come up with your own way to promote the trip – your choice! Upon completion of the trip, the Trip Promotional Report Form is due in the UWEX Office by Jan 1. Delegates will complete a simulated 6 hour Space Shuttle mission, underwater training and training simulators, tour the U.S. Space & Rocket Center and learn about becoming an astronaut. Delegates will earn 1 credit of college level science from the University of Alabama – Huntsville (can transfer). Delegates will participate in workshops, listen to speakers, do committee work, attend field trips and social events. Washington, D.C. Delegate Cost: Citizenship Washington Focus – Delegates will participate in seminars on citizenship, leadership, government, and civic responsibility. Tour historic sites and meet with Senators and Congressmen. Washington, D.C. Where: When: Mid-June through July Must be in the 10th to 12th grade. Eligibility: 4 Quota: Approximate cost of trip - $1200.00 Delegate Cost: American Spirit – Discover the struggle of immigration, the revolutionary war, cultural struggles and the city vs country. Youth are required to step out of their comfort zone and try new things. Passports are needed for all youth attending. Eligibility: 4 Quota: Delegate Cost: Approximate cost of trip - $1200.00 National Parks Tour (American Spirit West) - Help celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the National Parks system. Visit 7 National Parks! Activities will include ranger-led educational programs, service learning projects, hiking, some camping, and fun!!! South Dakota and Wyoming Where: When: June 22 – July 2, 2016 Must be in the 9th - 12th grade. Eligibility: 2 Quota: Approximate cost of trip - $1500.00 Delegate Cost: National 4-H Conference – Each participant selects an issue (i.e., education, promotion, environment, violence) and works with other youth from across the country to develop plans that help direct future 4 H programming. The Maker National Youth Summit is for the creative and curious young minds of the next generation of innovators. Participants make what they can with a variety of materials from a range of fields, utilizing their resourcefulness and creativity. Washington D.C. Science) – At the National Youth Summit on Agri-Science high school students develop the skills and knowledge needed for the challenges facing agriculture, food security and sustainability. National 4-H Council and National 4-H Youth Conference Center have partnered with agricultural scientists, researchers, leaders, politicians, and advocates to host the National Youth Summit on Agri-Science. This Summit emphasizes hands-on educational experiences led by experts in the agricultural community. Washington D.C. Where: When: January 15-18, 2016 th th 9 - 12 grade at time of selection. Eligibility: Quota: Delegate Cost: Approximate cost of trip - $550.00 + transportation National 4-H Youth Summit (Healthy Living) - At the National Youth Summit on Healthy Living high school students develop the knowledge and skills to address today's issues including nutrition education, physical fitness, wellness, and emotional well-being. National 4H Council and National 4-H Youth Conference Center have partnered with professionals in family consumer science and healthy living to host the National Youth Summit on Healthy Living. Students are trained to create action plans to implement in their communities and teach other youth about what they have learned. The structure of the summits maximizes the amount of hands-on learning experiences and translates that learning to direct outcomes. Washington D.C. The Drama Company performs at the WI 4-H Youth Conference and at the WI State Fair. Drama Technicians are also needed. Delegates will learn about production, processing, marketing and use of dairy products. Delegates will develop a broader understanding of careers available in dairy production, biotechnology, genetics, marketing and other selected areas. You must have at least 3 years in the dairy project to apply. Madison, WI Where: When: Late September / Early October Must be in the 10th to 12th grade.
