PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (PD) IN SUPPORT OF CHANGING INSTRUCTION KENTUCKY PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT STANDARDS 7 Content Standard – Kentucky Teachers Standards are addressed in the following: 1.2, 1.3, 2.1, 2.3, 2.4, 2.5, 6.1, 8.2, 9.2 th 8th Content Standard – Kentucky Teachers Standards are addressed in the following: 1.1a, 2.1a, 2.1b, and 3.1e Professional Development Standards—KY 1,3,5,8,9 THE GOAL OF THE PD HOW THE PD WILL BE ADMINISTERED WHO WILL IMPLEMENT THE PD WHEN THE PD IS SCHEDULED TO TAKE PLACE HOW PROGRESS TOWARDS THE GOAL WILL BE MONITORED RESOURCESSCHOOL & DISTRICT EVALUATING RESULTS The goal of the Social Studies professional development days will be to work on updating pacing and curriculum maps and adding performance activities to it as well as taking a deeper look at the literacy part of the standards. Teachers will be developing an LDC module to be used in the fall semester. Teachers will be revising, organizing, and adding formative assessments, lesson plans, 7th and 8th Grade S.S. teachers will be developing, organizing, and gathering higher order curriculum for the upcoming school year. This professional development will be facilitated by the Social Studies Department (specifically 7th and 8th grade teachers) July 30th and 31st 2014 Progress towards the goal will be measured through discussions at content meetings or PLCs, through academic success, and administrative evaluations. No monetary resources will be needed The trainings must be completed by the end of the summer/before opening day of 2014. and classroom activities.
