Academic Senate Resolution 1.14 Faculty involvement via Academic Senate in all phases of grant proposals Approved: November 26, 2013 Whereas, The ACCJC Standards require colleges to have a system of integrated planning, Grant proposals are a plan that the college will follow, if funded, Grant proposals should be driven by the college’s needs, as identified in the planning process, The Academic Senate’s role includes student preparation and success, curriculum, degree and certificate programs, faculty hiring, processes for budget development and processes for planning, Grant proposals often contain plans for curriculum development, degree and certificate development, new faculty hiring, and systems to improve student success, Therefore, in regard to grant proposals that include curriculum development, degree and certificate development, new faculty hiring, and systems to improve student success, the Hartnell College Academic Senate urges the Advancement Council to develop procedures for grant planning and proposal development that include Academic Senate involvement in the initial phases of proposal development and Academic Senate approval of grant proposals prior to submission of the proposal.
