National Science Foundation (NSF) Innovations at the Nexus of
Food, Energy and Water (FEW) Systems (INFEWS) catalyze
interdisciplinary research efforts to transform scientific understanding of the FEW
nexus. Hartnell will focus on Track 4b) Growing scientific workforce capable of
studying and managing the FEW system through education and other professional
development. Collaboration with CSUMB and UCSC. Up to $1M. Deadline March 22.
US Department of Agriculture (USDA) National Institute of Food and
Agriculture (NIFA) Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSI) Education Grants
Program invest and advance agricultural research, education and extension to
solve societal challenges. Strengthening proposal for Agricultural Sciences
Pathways Improvement HSI Project submitted.
US Department of Education – Title III Part F HSI STEM and Articulation
– institution wide, research based student access and success. Supports eligible
Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSI) in developing and carrying out activities to
increase the number of Hispanic and low-income students attaining degrees in the
fields of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Deadline May 3, 2016.
US Department of Education - High School Equivalency Program (HEP) to
assists migrant farmworkers and their families attain their high school equivalency
and transition to higher education, vocational/technical training, military, or
improved employment. HEP has been at Hartnell since 2006 and has met the target
of graduating at least 70% of students every year. $2.375M over 5 years
National Science Foundation (NSF) Improving Undergraduate STEM
Education (IUSE) Integrated Math Access, Success, Transfer and Engagement
Resources (iMASTER) will transform 100 students at a critical stage of their
college education through: 1) MAP Extended Math Academy workshops for Calculus
students; 2) PaTTH Pathways in Transformative Transitions; 3) INSPIRE Integrated
Network of Sustained, Persistent and Inspiring Resources and Engagements; and
4) SHARRE Share Hartnell Achievement and Research Results in Education.

Pebble Beach Foundation – NASA SEMAA Youth Program focuses on the
underserved, low income, minority Latino students from Kindergarten through 12th
grade in Monterey County, specifically students below grade eight and in the Alisal
community located in East Salinas where the SEMAA site is located.

The California Endowment (TCE) - Salinas Valley Health Professions
Pathways Partnership (SVHPPP), previously known as the Alisal Health
Professions Workforce pathways Partnership (AHPWPP), continues the investment of
TCE with Hartnell College and the East Salinas Building Healthy Communities
initiative. The new grant is for $1.5M over two years and supports a collaborative of
key stakeholders committed to increasing and sustaining a "locally grown" and
"locally prepared" allied health workforce to supply regional demand by replacing the
pipeline to prison with a pipeline to school and career.
Driscoll’s Philanthropy- Development of an iAgriculture program to help students
choose an agricultural career pathway; provide resources and training that will
enable students to succeed and advance in that career, particularly through the
development of personal, interpersonal, technical, and leadership knowledge and
skills; and connect them with mentors and internship opportunities in Salinas
Valley.
Development of a Farmworker Education and Advancement in Agriculture Program
will address unmet education and training needs within the Salinas Valley's
strawberry industry for employees with lower levels of basic education,
communication skills, and technical training.
Harden Foundation proposal for $500,000 to fund STEM and Agriculture Tech
based programming and state-of-the-art technology that will elevate our programs
and better prepare our students. Funds would support Hartnell’s vision of being a
STEAM magnet for our region, providing a highly skilled workforce to the Salinas
Valley’s cornerstone industries of Agriculture and Health.
Packard Foundation Three year request to support the continued partnership
between Hartnell College Foundation and the Alisal Center for Fine Arts and seed
funding for an Arts Innovation Technology program at the Alisal campus.
