2010‐2013 Catholic School Learning Plan for St. Albert of Jerusalem 2010‐2011 (Year 1) Progress Report Pillar Catholic Community, Culture, and Caring SMART Goals Action Plans to Support SMART Goal(s) • 1.1 By the end of June 2013, the students at St. Albert of Jerusalem Catholic School will identify an increase in their sense of belonging, inclusion, connectedness and safety as compared to baseline data compiled in March 2011. • September 2011: Communicate and review • Students will develop strong citizenship skills through social justice projects. • School Effectiveness Framework # 3.4: Completed In Progress behaviour expectations with staff, students and parents via newsletters. • Gather and analyse CCCC survey data and determine areas of success and areas in need of attention. • Continue to implement programs which support positive interactions. Students will be provided opportunities to empower their commitment to social justice initiatives through school, community and global stewardship opportunities. Develop a Virtues DVD at the primary and junior level. All grades will have involvement in a community outreach project. Support students in developing their sense of community by developing a sense of faithfulness and patriotism. Student connection to local parish will be supported through the celebration of the mass, but also through connections to school events. Support and encourage virtuous living X X Comments This is a continued and on‐going focus. • Positive School Climate Survey data has been collected from grade 4 – 8 through the Board’s on‐line data collection survey. • As results are received, the Catholic Community, Culture, and Caring school team will review the results and will address particular concerns. • We will continue to implement current practices and programs within our faith based culture: Roots of Empathy, Be Cool, Relational Aggression. • Continued contact with parents (Virtuous thinking reflection papers, newsletters, phone calls and parent conferences) will assist in promoting and maintaining a positive school culture at St. Albert of Jerusalem Catholic school. This is a continued and on‐going focus. Our Virtues DVD was developed with the support of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Media studies students. The roll out of the DVD was held in June 2011. This DVD is a compilation of song, drama and poetry. Students from grade 1, 3, 4 and 5 have added to the resources that will be used to promote an understanding of virtuous behaviour. Our school is a leader in supporting local and international charities. Liturgies and‐or masses are held on a monthly basis and are connected to the Catholic Virtues. Clergy attend community events such as open house barbeque and Welcome to Kindergarten night. Connections to/and reflections on Bible stories and messages are a daily focus.
