January Update,2016
Virtue of the Month
This month we will celebrate the virtue of selfcontrol. Self-control helps us to resist the
temptation to do something that we will regret.
Self-control helps us to resist the temptation to
do something that will harm ourselves or others. Self-control is one of the marks of a spiritually mature person.
An excerpt from our
School Council Mission
Statement:
The mission of the DufferinPeel Catholic District School
Board, in partnership with the
family and church, is to provide
in a responsible manner, a
Catholic Education which develops spiritual, intellectual,
aesthetic, emotional, social and
physical capabilities of each
individual to live fully today
and to meet the challenges of
the future, thus enriching the
community.
A person with self-control….

is patient
A Prayer for a New Year

knows how to wait his/her turn
A whole new year is mine today . . .

May I be wiser, Lord I pray!
I’ll strengthen friendships,
old and true,
And learn to cherish new ones too!
May I keep on learning and grow
A little better as I go . . .
To cast aside each grudge and grief,

knows how to avoid physical aggression
can think things through and do what is best for
everyone
When we use self-control, we can be sure that
our school will be a safe, caring and inclusive
place to live and to learn.
And hold fast to a firm belief
That life is joyous, gracious, good,
When lived in terms of neighbourhood!
To welcome fun, and play a while.
To lighten work with a happy smile!
To thank the Lord and every day
Remember Him and kneel and pray
In gratitude for strength and health
And blessings which are all my wealth!

situations
This year’s a gift from God to me

Welcome to 2016! At Stein, our New Year’s Resolution is to reduce energy consumption so that we
can be good ambassadors for our
planet. Why not
make it your family’s resolution
too? There are
lots of simple,
effective ways to
reduce the
amount of energy
you use at home.
Instead of turning up the heat on those cold,
wintry days, put on a sweater or extra blanket.
Ensure that the furnace is checked annually
and is working efficiently
Windows should be properly sealed. Keeping
the curtains and blinds closed at the end
of the day also helps keep out the cold.
Encourage your children to walk to school.
Reduce the amount of recycling and garbage
you produce by using reusable containers.
Turn off all lights not being used.
Use rechargeable batteries.
Donate gently used clothing and household
materials to non-profit organizations such
as St. Vincent de Paul instead of throwing
them in the garbage.
Thanks for being our ECO partners. Remember
our motto:
TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE THE
FUTURE GREENER
