The testing will be completed by Friday, February 3rd. All our 2nd -5th grade students will be taking two tests; math and reading. Since we began using the MAP data five years ago it has given us very valuable information that helps our teachers meet the specific academic needs of their students. MAP results will be sent home in mid-February. Teachers have already begun using the new data to help them with instruction for their students! Kindergarten Information Night The Kindergarten information Night will be Thursday, February 16th at 6:30p.m. Please pass this information to anyone you know that has a child entering kindergarten next year. January 27th , 2012 Volume 19 Special Interest: Important Information: Tis the Season for chapped lips & hands!! Please have your child bring in a chap stick & small bottle of lotion to keep at their desk. This will eliminate students from leaving their classroom. District 95 Mission Statement The Spencer Loomis staff met last week to discuss the progress made thus far with our school improvement plan. Listed below are our three academic goals this year: 1. We will increase students’ ability to comprehend text by coaching students on how to support, analyze, interpret, explain, and evaluate text in all content areas. 2. We will increase the students’ ability to compute and apply mathematical reasoning by coaching students on how to support, analyze, interpret,, explain, and evaluate in all content areas. 3. We will increase students’ ability to develop a well organized multiparagraph essay with support, organization, and focus. The mission of Community Unit School District 95 is to inspire all students to be passionate, continuous learners and to prepare them with the skills to achieve their goals and flourish as responsible, caring citizens in a global community.
