Seth Paine’s Principal Press October 2012 Volume 3, Issue 2 The mission of Community Unit School District 95 is to inspire all students to be passionate, continuous learners and to prepare them with the skills to achieve their goals and flourish as responsible, caring citizens in a global community. Fall is here! As the cooler weather approaches, I would like to remind all of our families to make sure that your children are dressed appropriately for school. Make sure that your children are wearing coats, bringing gloves/mittens, hats, etc. The students go outside almost everyday and we want to make sure that they can all go out to play comfortably. Local and State Testing Attention Parents—Students in grades 2-5 will be bringing home testing results on October 5th in their backpacks. Grades 2 and 3 will have their Fall MAP scores, which gives our teachers some baseline data on the performance level of your child. Grades 4 and 5 will have their Fall MAP score and last year’s results from their ISAT testing that took place in March. If you have any questions on how to read the testing results or would like to discuss further what these results mean, please feel free to make an appointment with your child’s teacher or myself in the school office. You may also visit www.nwea.org for detailed information about MAP testing or http://www.isbe.state.il.us/ for information regarding the ISAT results. In regards to ISAT testing our building performed well this past school year. In the next newsletter, I will have more specific data to share. Hats Off for Cancer On Friday, October 12th we will host our second annual “Mad Hatter Day” for Hats off For Cancer (http;/www.hatsoffforcancer.org), an international non-for profit that brings awareness to childhood cancer. We will be collecting donations to benefit pediatric cancer patients. Please see our website for full details of our event. http://www.lz95.org/schools/seth_paine_elementary/ seth_paine_elementary_school.aspx Page 2 Seth Paine’s Principal Press Volume 3, Issue 2 Other Important News Indoor Air Quality Committee—We are actively looking for a few more parents to serve on the Seth Paine Indoor Air Committee.
