Please contact your teachers if you need assistance understanding testing results. For 3rd-5th graders, ISAT testing is starting during the first week of March. To ensure your students are prepared please consider the following recommendations: 1.) Make sure, if possible, that your child attends school on the days of testing; 2.) Make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep the night before testing; 3.) Provide breakfast on the mornings of testing; 4.) Remind your child to ask the teacher questions if he or she does not understand the test directions; 5.) Let your child know that you have confidence in his or her ability to do his or her best; and 6.) Advise your child not to worry about the test—just do the best he or she can. Kindergarten Registration Night District 95 Kindergarten Registration Night Seth Paine will host a Kindergarten Information/Registration Night on Thursday, February 7 from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. For more information please visit the District website: http://www.lz95.org/ Academic Excellence The Illinois Honor Roll celebrates the accomplishments of exemplary Illinois public schools. The Academic Excellence Awards recognize schools that have sustained very high academic performance over at least three years. In elementary and middle schools, at least 90% of the students meet or exceeded state standards in both reading and mathematics for at least 3 consecutive years. I am very happy to share that Seth Paine met this goal and has received this award for the last three years of performance. Page 2 Seth Paine’s Principal Press Volume 3, Issue 6 Other Important News January Student of the Month—Every month Lake Zurich CUSD 95 gives each building an opportunity to select a student who represents our District’s mission of “Being a responsible, caring citizen in a global community.” For the month of January, Seth Paine choose 1st grade student Anna who is a hard worker, embraces the challenges of school, and an overall good citizen at school. She is thoughtful and curious, and always comes to school with a smile on his face. Congratulations Anna! Exciting News—As many of you know, Seth Paine participated in the Lake County Regional Office of Educa- tion Attendance Week this past October. We encouraged all families and students to be at school and on time. There were 40 other schools in our size category that participated in Attendance Week. Seth Paine received an award for 2nd place with an outstanding 98.6% attendance rate that week. Great Job everyone! Cold Weather Guidelines for Recess All of the schools in District 95 use the same guidelines to determine if recess will be indoors or outdoors. We then use the following guidelines (including wind chill): • 1 degrees or above outside recess • 0 degrees and below zero is inside recess We also always encourage our students to be dressed warmly and well prepared for our winter weather. Perhaps it would be useful to place a hat and an extra pair of gloves in your child’s backpack. Contact Me – Have a question or a concern? Please feel free to contact me.
