FROM THE OFFICE OF Lettie Ekovich May Whitney Elementary School PRINCIPAL 100 CHURCH STREET LAKE ZURICH, ILLINOIS 60047 PHONE: (847) 438-2351 FAX: (847) 438-2696 April 2013 Dear May Whitney Families, We are excited to announce the May Whitney Extreme Reading Project. This project is open to all students and is designed to promote reading in unusual locations, with other people, or while doing another activity. All activities should be safe, but fun ways to read. Here are some ideas: Read… in a tree house on the train on a boat on vacation at Grandma’s on the beach under your dining room table while waiting in line for the movies with a flashlight or while watching a hockey game or to a pet. If it is unusual for you to do; then it is Extreme Reading. Submit your photo or video with a brief description of why it is extreme to Edmodo. (Please see attached directions.) Others within our school community will be able to view your photo or video and make comments. This project begins on April 1st and our hope is that many students will participate! We will have a fun celebration for all participants and also award prizes! Please read the following pages to learn how to be a part of this exciting project!
