TIMOTHY SCHOOL NEWSLETTER
God has given us many examples of how to live faithfully. He sent his
Son Jesus to make sure that we could see how we should live our lives.
Jesus made one lesson clear above all other lessons – the lesson to love.
Love is not about us – it is about forgetting ourselves and looking out for
the good of others. He chose to give up His life for the good of others –
for us!
Becoming a truly loving person is challenging. It takes prayer and
concentration to get used to making little sacrifices for the good of
others. Through prayer and concentration, we can get better at showing
love to everyone we meet.
Our bullying prevention theme for this month is: If you are not part of the
solution, you are part of the problem.
Even if students do not feel able to directly intervene, they can still help
stop bullying. By removing themselves as the audience, they take power
away from the child who is bullying.
Let them praise his name with dancing. - Psalm 149:3

Pretzels for ShareLife
The pretzel has traditionally been a symbol of the Lenten season and a
wonderful opportunity for our school to support a very important Catholic
Charity.
Our FDZ Faith Ambassadors were busy collecting pretzel orders during
March, prior to the March Break. Pretzels were to be delivered to
students on Holy Thursday but due to the weather, students received
their pretzels on March 29th, 2016. $800 was raised and will go directly
to SHARELIFE. Thank you for your support!
Alleluia! Truly he is risen!

fundraising efforts, each and every child

programs such as “Scientists in the
School”, through the purchase of
Classroom technology products, school
trips and more. As a special “thank
you” for your support, you will also be
eligible to win various prizes for your
family.
Forms are due back on April 5th.
We sincerely appreciate your

ECO-NEWS
March was a busy month for
the Eco Dragonz!
We all worked hard to remind
and review with FDZ students
how to properly recycle. In
small groups, we created a
power point presentation,
explained what goes in the
recycling box and what does
not, and played an interactive
Kahoot quiz using the school
IPADs. We also introduced
Dexter the Dragon.
Looking forward to April, our
Eco Dragonz are already
working hard to prepare fun
activities to promote more
ECO awareness. Throughout
the month, Eco Dragonz will
be monitoring and tracking all
of the classrooms recycling
bins, G.O.O.S.E bins, garbage
bins, energy consumption,
and student use of reusable
water bottles. Classes will be
given points according to
their success. The class with
the most points at the end of
the month will win a PIZZA
LUNCH!
To celebrate Earth Day, April
22nd, students are encouraged
to wear Blue and GREEN.
Stay tuned for more updates
and announcements as we get
closer to the special day!
And remember, “Let’s make
EVERYDAY EARTH DAY!”

growth of corporations and public utilities
in Ontario, or the creation of public high
schools. These two omissions caused
over 100 years of financial hardship and
inequity for separate school supporters.
12. Why did Catholic parents and
students have to pay tuition to attend
a Catholic high school after grade
ten?
In 1871 the Ontario government passed
an Act. This Act abolished common and
grammar schools and created public
schools for grades one to ten and high
School Tardiness
schools for grades nine to thirteen. The
highest official with the Department of
Education,
It is an expectation that students are to be on time for all classes and events
and arrive to school prepared for learning. According to research, attending
school regularly and being on time, are deemed to be two of the most
important keys to student success. The second school term has started.
Through observation and school records, it is apparent that some of our
students are arriving to school late. Students who arrive late miss important
opening announcements, the beginning of their morning classes, and may also
cause a distraction for their classmates and teachers. So when students are
late, they miss out on not only their own learning opportunities, but also may
interfere with the learning opportunities of their classmates. School
classrooms, with an increased emphasis on interactive learning and
participation, make missed time more difficult and often impossible to make
up. Successful efforts to address this concern will involve a good relationship
between the school and home in order to place our students on the path to
educational success and well-being. As part of a school-wide strategy, in
order to foster a culture of on-time attendance, students who demonstrate
improvement will be recognized through various incentives (e.g., certificates,
“sunshine” notes, stickers…). Please help us to eliminate any future
tardiness. By working together in partnership, we can achieve this goal.
Egerton
Ryerson,
commented that the 1871 Act did not
affect separate schools. The separate
school
boards
operating
secondary
school classes carried on, receiving
funding from grants and taxes. However,
early in
the
twentieth
century the
government passed legislation which
forbade a separate school board from
offering education beyond grade ten if its
boundaries fell partially or fully within the
boundaries of a high school district.
Thus, all but one separate school board
(in Dublin) lost their ability to receive tax
or government grant financing beyond
grade ten.

Class Creation for September 2016 Allergy Awareness
Class formation is a complex
procedure, which takes into
consideration not only the needs of
the individual child, but frames
those needs in the context of the
larger classroom group. In each
class we strive for a balance of
learning styles, a balance of gender,
a balance of learning needs and a
cross-section of abilities.
The current teachers, support staff
and administration take part in the
process. If you as a parent wish to
provide input into the process,
please take into consideration the
following guidelines:
 Input must be made in
writing to the Principal
no later than April 30,
2016.
 Frame requests in
terms of educational
contexts, e.g., your
child’s learning
needs/style;
information not
already known to the
school; best learning
environment.
 Please do not make
requests for specific
teachers as staffing is
always tentative and
changes can take place
between now and
September.
We require all members of our community to
continue their cooperation by ensuring all
snacks/lunches sent to school are peanut, tree
nut and shellfish allergen-free. Also, imitation
peanut products cannot be sent to school.
These products can cause undue anxiety for
any child who is anaphylactic and is not able
to determine the difference between an
allergen and an imitation product. The
presence of imitation products can create a
false sense of security and increases the
potential for a mistake to be made. We also
ask that food products not be brought in to
the classroom for sharing purposes during inclass celebrations (e.g., student birthdays).
Thank you for your support.
