Remembrance
Lord our God, at this time of remembrance,
we entrust all our prayers and needs to your infinite mercy.
Help us to become ever more mindful of the
bonds that unite us as a human family despite our
differences.
Heal our inner wounds and outward divisions,
that one day our world might live in your true and lasting peace.
Amen
Remembrance Day Presentation
Wednesday, November 11
All are Welcome
Please join us, if you are able, in our school gym on
November 11th at 10:35 a.m. . We will be gathering to
remember those soldiers who have sacrificed their lives for us
and we honor those soldiers who continue to protect the rights
and freedoms of Canadians and people in need of protection.
Student Faith Ambassadors 2015-2016
A big Seton Thank You to members of our school community for donating a great deal of
non-perishable food and money for Eden Food for Change.
Your generosity is very much appreciated.
Consider visiting the Eden Food for Change website (edenffc.org) for information on
ordering a Fresh Produce Box.
As Catholics, we prepare to celebrate the season of Advent. The Advent wreath is a
circular garland of evergreen branches representing eternity. On that wreath, four
candles (three purple and one pink) are typically arranged. During the season of
Advent one candle on the wreath is lit each Sunday. Each candle represents an
aspect of the spiritual preparation for the coming of the Lord, Jesus Christ.
November 29 - First Sunday of Advent: purple candle representing Hope in anticipation of the coming Messiah.
December 6 - Second Sunday of Advent: purple candle representing Love symbolizing Christ's manger.
December 13 - Third Sunday of Advent: pink candle representing Joy or the “Shepherd’s Candle”
December 20 - Fourth Sunday of Advent: purple candle representing Peace also called the "Angel’s Candle"
St. Elizabeth Seton School is ECO FRIENDLY
As the weather stays warm enough, a reminder to participate in Motorless Monday and choose to walk,
bike or scooter to and from school. Don’t forget, you can also walk around your neighborhood instead
of driving. This helps us reduce air pollution, idling and promotes physical activity.

Allergy Alert
Food Days
Safety for all Students!!!
Please do not send in homemade or purchased food
products for special celebrations (Birthdays) or holidays (Christmas/Easter). We have students in our
school that have life threatening allergies. Homemade/purchased products will not be distributed in the
future. Pencils, erasers or stickers are better choices.
Lunch Hour Routines
If you plan to drop off your child’s
lunch, please assist us in efficient
distribution by reminding your child
to come to the office at lunch time.
Please label the lunch bag with
your child’s name and teacher. A
table in front of the main office will
be available for the lunch drop-off.
A reminder that students who
regularly stay for lunch are NOT
permitted to leave school property
without a signed and dated note
from parents each time they wish
to leave
school
grounds.
Catholic School Council has organized
Pizza and Subway Lunch Days.
These are pre-ordered lunches.
**New pizza forms will be distributed in December.
Head Injury Policy (Concussion Protocol)
When a student receives an injury to the head, it is Board Procedure
that we inform parents.
We will attempt to notify you even when it is a very minor injury.
Please try not to be too alarmed should you receive a call. A pamphlet
will be sent home with your child.
Santa is coming to Seton...Ho Ho Ho
On November 18th, Santa will be coming to
St. Elizabeth Seton School.
Photos will be available for purchase.
Information will be coming home with your child.
Elementary Progress Reports
Elementary Progress Reports will be sent home on Tuesday, November 17th.
The Elementary Progress Report is designed to show a student’s development of learning skills
and work habits during the fall of this year, as well as a student’s general progress in working
towards the achievement of curriculum expectations in all subjects.
Please be aware that the Progress Report is not a formal Report Card. Students will not be
receiving letter grades indicating achievement of overall expectations.
Interview evening is Thursday, November 19th, if necessary.
Reminders and Resources: Cold and Flu Season
As cold and flu season approaches, the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board continues to be
vigilant in ensuring that our schools are clean and that our school communities are educated regarding
good hand hygiene and cough etiquette. A reminder, as well, that communicable diseases can be
contracted in public places throughout the year. For example, cold-related viruses, such as Enterovirus,
are transferred from person to person through hand contact. Cold and flu viruses typically peak from December through February, but can start as early as October.
Please assist us by reviewing good hand washing procedures with your children. As always, children who are unwell,
should be kept at home. Please visit the Peel Health website: http://www.peelregion.ca/health
Personal Electronic Devices (PED) on Board Premises
The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board acknowledges the value of the use of technology for
learning. Students will be permitted to register and use personal electronic devices (PEDs) on board
premises and/or board sanctioned events for educational purposes, under the direction of staff and only
with parent/guardian permission. Students are required to adhere to the student “Personal Electronic
Device Used with WI-FI Network Student Agreement”
Please be advised that the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board will not be responsible
for any cost incurred through the use of personal data plans.
PEDs are to be used responsibly and should not interfere with learning; their use must comply with the Catholic Code of
Conduct, board policies and procedures.
Any personal communications (i.e., phone calls, text messages, etc.) will continue to be directed through the
main office. Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in a loss of PED privileges and/or any other
consequences deemed necessary by school administration.
The school principal may authorize limited acceptable uses of personal electronic devices during school-sanctioned activities for a specific designated purpose outside of instructional spaces and/or in common areas.
Students are responsible for the safety and security of PEDs at all times and the Board
assumes no responsibility for lost, damaged or stolen devices.
Schools are Busy Places!!
We ask for your patience and understanding if there is a
wait at the doors. Please note that during Morning
Announcements (8:55 am –9:05 am) the doors will not be
opened/ unlocked for visitors. Thanks again for your
patience.
Remember...Supervision in the school yard does not start
until 8:30 a.m. Please do not drop off your children before that time.
Textbooks
School textbooks are school property and are loaned to
the students annually. The expectation is that textbooks
will be returned at the end of the school year. Students
are responsible for these textbooks and will be asked to
pay if these books go missing or have been vandalized.
The cost of an average textbook is about $50.00 each.
Please encourage your child to take care of textbooks!

French Online Tutor:VoilaLearning.com
This year, the Dufferin-Peel Catholic DSB has purchased a license with VoilaLearning.com which
provides an online-tutoring service. The license was purchased based on the number of French
Immersion students in the board; however, the service is extended to all FSL students, including
Extended and Core French students. For instructions on joining the
service, follow these instructions:
Go to http://voilalearning.com/en/if-your-school-board-has-registered/
Parents register in order to gain access to an online tutor.
Medication At School
Please be advised that for safety reasons, no child should bring any
form of medication to school without prior approval from the office.
The school will store necessary medication if proper
documentation has been filled out.
If you require a form or have questions regarding the storage of
medication, please contact the office.
All Epi Pens need medical forms filled out by the
Physician in order to be stored at school.
IF YOUR CHILD HAS A LIFE

Inclement Weather
Please be advised that during the winter months,
inclement weather may cause disruption of bus
transportation and regular school operations.
Please note: The message is often unclear
when media outlets announce bus cancellations that may apply only to Caledon. The
DPCDSB website is often the better place to
check.
A decision to cancel school transportation and/or to

Catholic education views human life as an integration of body, mind,
and spirit. Rooted in this vision, Catholic education
fosters the search for knowledge as a lifelong spiritual and
academic quest.
The expectations of Catholic graduates, therefore, are
described not only in terms of knowledge and skills, but in terms of
values, attitudes and actions.
Each month we will be focusing on a different Catholic
Graduate Expectation. During the month of November,
I Am A Believer will be presented on our announcements and
through our prayers.

Rough Play
Rainy Days
On rainy or inclement days we have many more parents arriving in their cars to pick up their children.
We would remind all parents to please be patient and
follow our usual Kiss and Ride protocols.
Parents are not to park at the front of the school and
wait for the children. This area is a bus loading
zone. Also, idling your car is illegal and bad for our
environment. Our main goals are student health and
safety. We need your help to ensure that all of our
students are safe in arriving and leaving school. We
thank you for your continued support.
Students have been given guidelines about appropriate behaviour in the playground. At St. Elizabeth
Seton we continue to enforce a hands-off policy for schoolyard
activities. Aggressive play leads to unintended injuries and
unnecessary arguments. Teachers have been instructed to
consequence students who continue to disobey these rules.
Help Us Out at Kiss & Ride
Please do not park in the Kiss & Ride Lane
Students who are ready can safely exit the car without assistance
Parents should not be getting out of the vehicle
Parents assisting children should park the car in the lot
Morning supervision begins at 8:30 am
If you live within 5 blocks of the school, please consider walking
Pediculosis
A problem which occurs from time to time in each school is an infestation of head lice also known as Pediculosis.
Pediculosis is in no way connected with poor hygiene or dirt. Anyone can become infested.
In order to control these pests we will follow these procedures and request your full cooperation and understanding. If
cases are found in the classroom, we will inform the parents of that class.
We would ask that you check your children‘s hair and, if you find it to be infested, please notify the school and we will
advise as to the appropriate treatment. If a child is infested he/she will be kept out of school until they have been
treated with the correct shampoo and their hair is entirely clear of both lice and nits (eggs). Student’s hair must be
checked by the Principal/Vice Principal before returning to class. Information on head lice may also be obtained from
your family doctor or pharmacist.
End of Day Pick Up
The end of the school day can be a very hectic time.
It is a time when many parents, older siblings,
relatives and friends are picking up children from
school. It is also a challenge, as you can imagine,
making sure that all students and adults are
matched up. We ask that you keep your family pick
up arrangement as consistent as possible. Some of
our younger students find it very stressful and
confusing when pick up arrangements change
frequently.
If a change needs to occur, we would appreciate you
sending a note to your child’s teacher on (or before!)
the day of the change. Parents who call during the
last few minutes of the day to change plans may
leave it too late. Also, please be on time in picking
up your children. If you are not able to pick up your
child on time, please make alternate arrangements
or consider enrolling in the after school program.
Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
No Peanut Butter or Substitutes Please
1) If a child with a life-threatening peanut allergy sees a
peanut-butter substitute they may experience anxiety and/or
physical panic reaction as a result of visually seeing the substitute
2) Peanut-butter substitutes, such as WOWBUTTER, can
create significant challenges for teachers, and especially
students, to identify real peanut butter from the substitute;
3) If one student sees another with a peanut-butter substitute,
such as WOWBUTTER, they may believe it is peanut butter,
and may take the message home that it is acceptable to bring
peanut butter.
As always, your understanding and co-operation are
appreciated!

Cold Weather Ahead
With winter right around the corner, it is important to remind your children to dress appropriately for outdoor
activities. Under most circumstances, students will be sent outside for fresh air.
The wearing of a warm coat, hat, gloves and boots will help to make outside activities more enjoyable.
Leaving School Property at Lunch Time
Please note that at recess (a.m. & p.m.) no student is permitted to leave the school grounds at any time. At lunch time
the expectation is that all students in grade 1 to 6 stay at school for lunch unless they have written permission from their
parents stating otherwise. Parents must sign their child out and in when taking them for lunch. In grades 7 & 8 some
parents checked the “no note” option on the annual permission form. Please remember, if you have given your child
blanket permission to leave the school property at lunch time, or give them specific permission in writing on individual
days to leave school property at lunch time, the school cannot assume responsibility for their supervision once off
school grounds. Some intermediate students choose to go to the plaza for lunch, necessitating that they cross a very
busy intersection. Safety tips have been re-viewed with the Grade 7 & 8‘s so that they can remain alert and safe while
off school property. Your help in reviewing your lunch hour expectations with your children and discussing safety issues
would be helpful .
