The board will receive a presentation on the impact of the Affordable Care Act for the Hartnell Community
College District.

BACKGROUND / SUMMARY
The board will receive a presentation on the Affordable Care Act from Lauren Miller, MSW,
and Glorietta Rowland, Management Analysts from the Monterey County Department of Social
Services.
Lauren Miller has been working for the Monterey County Department of Social Services for
over five years and began as an emergency response social worker in the Family & Children’s
Services branch before joining the Community Action Partnership Office. As an Analyst for the
Community Action Partnership, Lauren is engaged in various outreach and support activities
that focus on the needs of the very low-income population. Outreach and education efforts for
the Affordable Care Act and Health Care Reform are new projects to the Community Action
Partnership and Lauren has completed the Covered California Certified Educator training
program and has been leading educational workshops on this topic all around the community.
Glorietta Rowland is a new addition to the Monterey County Department of Social Services and
comes with extensive experience in non-profit management. She has been instrumental in the
development and implementation of several successful projects serving homeless and at-risk
populations. As an Analyst for the Community Action Partnership Office, Glorietta is engaged
in various outreach and support activities that focus on the needs of the very low-income
population. Outreach and education efforts for the Affordable Care Act and Health Care Reform
are new projects to the Community Action Partnership and Glorietta has completed the Covered
California Certified Educator training program and has been leading educational workshops on
this topic all around the community.
