New Years Prayer
O God of new beginnings and wonderful surprises,
Thank you for the gift of a new year.
May it be a time of grace for me, a
time to grow in faith and love,
A time to renew my commitment to
following Your Son, Jesus.
Principal’s message
I hope that the Christmas season was a
meaningful celebra on of Christ’s birth

Thank you to everyone who donated to
the Food Drive and the Hat and Scarf Drive.
Special thanks to the Youth Faith Ambassa-
May it be a year of blessing for me,
A time to cherish my family and
friends,
A time to renew my efforts at work, a
time to embrace my faith more fully.
Walk with me, please everyday and
every hour of this new year,
That the light of Christ might shine
through me,
In spite of my weaknesses and failings.
Above all, may I remember this year
that I am a pilgrim on the sacred
path to You.

Virtue of the Month– Self Control
This month we will celebrate the virtue of Self Control. God has given us the ability
to choose. We are able to control how we react to what happens around us. We
feel pressure from inside or from outside ourselves to react violently to a situation.
We’ve all “lost it” at one time or another. We are never proud of those moments.
As soon as they happen we make a promise that it will not happen again.
Through prayer and concentration, we can get better at controlling our reactions.
We can get better at showing self-control.
DRESS FOR THE WEATHER
Now that colder weather is upon us, we respectfully remind you to ensure that
your children come to school dressed warmly to participate in
recess activities.
When weather conditions are severe, we may reduce the outdoor playtime or have indoor recess. Fresh air and exercise
are vital components for successful learning, so we will endeavor to have children play outside whenever possible.
Help your children come to school appropriately dressed with
boots, snowpants, scarves, hats and mittens on those really
chilly days!
Only students wearing snowpants and boots will be permitted to play on the field.
For health reasons and to help keep the school safe and clean, we ask all students to have indoor shoes. Thank you for your support in this matter.

Parking Lot Safety
Morning Drop-Off Routine
Parents who do not wish to park their car in a designated parking spot may drop off children you may use the DROP OFF
ZONE established in the parking lot, at the bend near the school yard. This has been identified with painted lines
on the pavement in the near future and a stop sign installed as well.
Parents are asked to stop at the drop off zone and students should disembark from the right side of the vehicle. Other vehicles are asked not to pass cars waiting to drop off. Students exiting vehicles should not be going around the back of the
vehicle to the trunk as this is unsafe. By following this system we can have two cars unload at a time. Once those
vehicles have moved on then the next vehicles can pull up and unload. Buses will be asked to wait behind the line up and
then pull up in front of the school to unload, as usual. We ask that cars no longer pull up against the curb in the area along
the sidewalk/garden as this is a fire route.
End of the day Pick-Up Routine
We would ask that if there are no more parking spaces available in the parking lot that parents wait in the church
parking lot until they see that the 3 large school buses have arrived. Once all of the buses have arrived. Parents
picking up are asked to pull up behind the buses in a line. No cars will be permitted to leave the parking lot until
all buses have departed. Once the buses have left parents who are picking up can pull up to the curb and we
will call your children for you. Thank you for your cooperation with this pick up system.

NOTICE TO PARENTS/GUARDIANS OF TRANSPORTED STUDENTS
TOWN OF CALEDON
To help parents/guardians better understand the nuances of school bus cancellation notices as
they relate to the Town of Caledon, the following clarification is provided with reference to a typical
media statement:
“THE DUFFERIN-PEEL CATHOLIC DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD BUSES AND THE PEEL
DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD BUSES IN THE TOWN OF CALEDON ARE CANCELLED”
This means that all school buses in the jurisdictional area of the Town of Caledon, including
Bolton, Caledon East, as well as all villages and rural areas, are cancelled. This affects all
elementary students who are bussed to St. Cornelius, Holy Family, St. John Paul II, St. John the
Baptist and St. Nicholas, as well as all secondary students who are bussed to Robert F. Hall and
St. Michael Catholic secondary schools.
Please note that a notice that “the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board and Peel District
School Board buses are cancelled” indicates that all buses are cancelled including all bus runs in
the Town of Caledon. Similarly, a notice indicating that “the Dufferin-Peel schools are closed”
would include the closure of all schools in the Town of Caledon.
While cancellation notices are indicated on various news channels, including TV and radio
stations, typically by 6:00 am, the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board also posts the
information by numerous means, typically by 6:10 am.
Here are ways parents/guardians and students can check on cancellation/closure notices:

Visit the Board website at www.dpcdsb.org or any Dufferin-Peel Catholic school website,
where a yellow ALERT banner at the top of the page will advise of any cancellations or
other relevant alert messages.

DPCDSB on Wednesday, January 29. Please be advised that buses in Dufferin County


Twitter – all cancellations/closures are tweeted. Follow the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District
School Board @ DPCDSBSchools.
