email, along with the questions on the survey. There was some discussion
about the wording. Bryan also said he would send out the final QEP that has
been submitted to SACS.
Library Systems Office: Eric gave highlights from the LSO:
-Due to an estimated cost of $2400 to install the OHMS viewer on a VM in the
data center, it was decided to not go forward at this time with the
installation. There are a minimal number of items on the KDL viewer currently
and the audio files are hosted on a media server at WKU with additional
access on TopSCHOLAR.
-New and replacement faculty PCs have not arrived as of yet. A temporary PC
will be setup for Laura Bohuski if the new staff member is hired before the
PC arrives.
Marketing: Jennifer reported that the publicity with the food picture and
student Audrey Lewis is now circulating. The ad is scheduled to be in the
Herald this week. Jennifer will follow up with Kirk Atkinson from College of
Business and Steven Wininger from Psychology to further discuss department
options and students for the final poster and promo of the academic year. Jennifer is working with regional campus library faculty to update their rack
cards.
-Jennifer asked about t-shirt sizes to sell at Book Fest and give away next
year. REACH WEEK publicity is out and the ERC was added to all the
promotional materials. There were fliers, digital signs, and a slider
promoting our specific events.
-Jennifer worked with Connie and Dr. Beverly Siegrist on the nursing journal
press release that will go out as the journal is launched. April 1 is the
projected launch date. There was a write up in the Daily News for Thursday’s
speaker with a great headline.
Web & Emerging Technologies: Haiwang distributed the email from Kirk
Laughlin, WKU mobile application developer, concerning the contact names on
the iWKU app for smart phones. The LLC members reviewed the names and gave
suggestions for changes. Haiwang will submit a final version to the dean for
proofreading before sending it to Kirk for updating the iWKU app.
-Haiwang complimented the Social Media Committee led by Shaden Melky from
Eric’s Library Systems Office for organizing and providing the first of a
series of training sessions on the development and use of social network
applications. The first session on Prezi on March 19 in Helm 2 went well with
good turnout except that the computers were a bit slow. Remedies suggested by
LLC included slowing down the pace of teaching and prelaunching the
computers.
