The Radiance of Easter
Spring Prayer
Dear God:
Spring is a metaphor for change. Some
changes we eagerly await, and some we
abhor. Some changes we plan, and others
arrive uninvited. To all these changes, we
ask the gift of Your perspective, beckoning us to expectation, hope, and rebirth.
May the sunlight and the rain be reminders that You are at work renewing the
earth. As a God of renewal, You are ever
at work in our lives, too.
Open our eyes and lives to the needed
changes in our lives this Spring. Awaken
us to new life and perspective, for we
pray in Jesus' name.
Amen

Virtue of the Month: Love
Join the Dufferin-Peel
This month we will celebrate the virtue
of Love.
Becoming
pathy a truly loving
person is challenging. It takes prayer
and concentration to get used to making
little sacrifices for the good of others;
making little sacrifices on purpose so
that others will have a bit of food, a bit
of fun, a bit of friendship. Through
prayer and concentration, we can get
better at showing Love to everyone we
meet.

In the early morning hours, the day arises.
The first light glimmers.
There hasn’t been much time to sleep.
Yet already there is nothing to see in this
tomb!
There is nothing to see in this tomb!
Like the earth in Spring, it has broke open,
Given way to the first surges rising.
Life has sprung forth, new, joyous, like a
first-born.
There is nothing to see in this tomb,
Nothing to touch.
The Living One cannot be contained!
No living one can be contained!
Finally free, this life is now restored.
Free, it calls to us;
Free, it lifts us up out of fear!
There is nothing to see in this tomb!
Let the Good News spread like wildfire
Across the world!

ECO TEAM UPDATE
The St. Matthew Green Team is hard at work this month. We are implementing Water Bottle
Wednesdays. We encourage all students to bring re-usable water bottles on Wednesdays in order to
promote drinking tap water and using less plastic bottles so in turn, we produce less plastic waste.
Don’t forget that Friday, April 22, 2016 is Earth Day. The theme this year is #Rooting4Trees. St.
Matthew has planted 3 new trees which we plan to use for our outdoor classroom. We are also starting to work
on our greening plan for this year. Look for more news to follow.
CHESS TEAM
Our school competed in the Mississauga Brampton Central Family of Schools Chess Competition
