The light of these candles will remind us of
the coming of Christ, who is the light of
the world. The green colour of these
branches will remind us of the coming of
Christ, who brings us eternal life.
My friends, let us bless the Lord. By day
and by night, and through every season,
you watch over us, Lord. We praise you
for this Advent wreath. It is the evergreen
crown of your people, and it shines with
the promise of victory. By the light of this
wreath we shall wait in patience for your
Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. He will comfort our fears and bring hope to our waiting world. All glory be yours, now and
forever. Amen

CATHOLIC SCHOOL COUNCIL
The School Council Movie Night was a huge success. Thank you to all the families who participated in this
community building event. The next School Council meeting will be on January 6 at 6:30 pm. All parents are
welcome.
ST. VINCENT DE PAUL CHRISTMAS BASKETS
Our St. Vincent de Paul Christmas Basket initiative, in support of the St. Vincent de Paul Society,
has been received with an overwhelming response. Your outpouring of kindness and generosity
towards this cause is truly heart-warming. We are so proud and grateful to be a part of this caring
Catholic community. Thank you for answering the call to serve. “Whatsoever you do to the least
of my brothers, that you do unto me.” Matthew 25:40
DRESS FOR THE WEATHER
Now that colder weather is upon us, we respectfully remind you to ensure that your children
come to school dressed warmly to participate in recess activities. When weather conditions
are severe, we may reduce the outdoor playtime, or have indoor recess entirely. Fresh air and
exercise are vital components for successful learning, so we will endeavour to have children
play outside whenever possible. Help your children come to school appropriately dressed with
scarves, hats and mittens on those really chilly days! Snow pants must be worn if children
wish to play in the snow. It is a good idea if students have extra socks in their bag. For health
reasons and to help keep the school safe and clean, we ask all students to have indoor shoes.
Thank you for your support in this matter.
PARKING/ SCHOOL DRIVEWAY/ KISS ’N RIDE
Safety is our priority. All parents/guardians are asked to respect the NO PARKING
zones at the front of the school – this area is reserved as a fire route and for buses only.
Please follow the directional signs and various painted lines/wording in the parking area.
In the interest of safety, we ask for the cooperation of all parents who drive their children to school. Please use
the Kiss ‘N Ride lane at the front of the school to drop your children off in the morning, and/or to pick them up
at dismissal. We ask parents to follow directions from the staff on duty to facilitate a smooth process. There is
absolutely NO PARKING permitted on the Kiss ‘N Ride lane. Should you need to assist your child to get out of
the car, you will need to park in the parking lot.
LIBRARY
With the Advent season upon us, our Christmas break is fast approaching. The
library collection will therefore be organized in preparation for our return in January. Please ensure that all borrowed library books are returned on December 7,
2015. Thank you for your cooperation.

ECO TEAM WISHING YOU ALL A GREEN CHRISTMAS
This year the St. Matthew ECO Team has 74 members consisting of students from Grades 3 to 8.
We are working hard to become a certified GOLD Eco School this year and we need your help.
Our members are teaching students how to recycle and how to conserve energy both at school and at
home. We continue to promote re-usable bottles and lunch containers. These would make great
stocking stuffers for your children! New members are always welcome to join our ECO Team and
help make St. Matthew a greener place in the world!!
