Make Me An Instrument
Of Your Peace
Lord, make me an instrument of Your
peace. Where there is hatred, let me
sow love; where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith; where there
is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy.
O, Divine Master, grant that I may not
so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love. For it is in giving
that we receive; it is in pardoning that
we are pardoned; it is in dying that we
are born again to eternal life.

Conscience
Conscience is the voice of God within
us. As you develop your conscience,
you will learn to make decisions that
will make sure you will always have
love in your life. Our conscience
reminds us how to act towards other
people and how to be a good friend.
Sometimes it is hard for us to do the
right thing, but we must always
remember that the right thing to do is
not always the easy thing to do.
REMEMBRANCE DAY
O Lord our God, we have gathered this day to offer our prayers
and petitions for those who have
perished as a result of conflict and
the strife of war. We pray for
those who have given of themselves willingly, those who made
the ultimate sacrifice. We pray for
those who have been victimized,
innocent casualties of hatred and
terror. We pray for those who
continue to place themselves in
harm’s way in order that peace
and harmony might be achieved.
Hear us, O Lord, as we make our
appeal in their memory; Bless, O
Lord our God, those who have
fought and valiantly died that we
might enjoy liberty and freedom.
May their sacrifice not be in vain.
A liturgical service will be held in
the school gym on Tuesday, November 11th at 10:45 a.m. Parents
are welcome to join us.

ALL SAINTS AND ALL SOULS DAY
While the secular world moves towards the celebration of the Christmas season at this time of year, we are
reminded as Catholics of the importance of the feast days of All Saints Day and All Souls Day celebrated in the
Roman Rite.
All Saints Day, celebrated on November 1st, reminds us of those men and women who have lived faithful lives in
the Church. This day is a part of the liturgical calendar of events, and we remember our saints in our prayers.
The historical roots of this celebration have to do with those martyrs who died in the early Church. Later, Pope
Gregory VII declared this day to be the date we remember all who have lived and died for their faith.
On All Souls Day, November 2nd, we remember all who have died. We remember those with liturgies, celebrations or prayers. Both dates remind students of the depth of our faith and our participation in the Catholic
CATHOLIC SCHOOL COUNCIL
The School Council Chocolate fundraiser was a success. Thank you to all the families who supported this
fundraiser and thank you to the parent volunteers who helped to count money on a daily basis. Please stay
tuned for Spirit Wear Sales Information and St. Matthew Movie Night on November 20, 2015. The next meeting will be on November 4 at 6:30 pm. All parents are welcome.
YOUTH FAITH AMBASSADORS
Staff and students at St. Matthew School will be celebrating Bullying Awarenesss and Prevention Week on November 16-20. The theme will be 'Don't Stand By.....Stand Up'. Our Youth Faith Ambassadors have been busy at
work planning activities that will allow students to reflect on the impact that bullying has on the entire school
community. Through daily announcements, peer mentoring and artwork, the students will promote a positive
and inclusive school environment. On Blue Day Friday, a culminating assembly will take place whereby
students will be given the opportunity to let their voices be heard and also to take a school-wide pledge to reaffirm their commitment. At St. Matthew, we are the change!
LIBRARY
As we enter November the library will be hosting our annual Scholastic book fair. Students will have the opportunity to visit the library at scheduled times with their class. Days in which students may preview the fair and
make wish lists are Friday, October 30 and Monday, November 2. The book purchasing days are Tuesday and
Wednesday of the same week. A percentage of sales will go to support our school library in the purchasing of
new books. Thank you in advance for your support.
CROSS COUNTRY
On October 16th students from grades 4 to 8 represented our school at the Mississauga Brampton Central cross
country meet in Chinguacousy Park. They demonstrated dedication and determination throughout the practices and races. Our cross country team advanced to the next round of competition in which Conrado L., Gabriela R., Joseph E., and Angie O. represented our school on October 26th at Centennial Park. Congratulations
to the entire cross country team for their effort, and thank you to the parent volunteers and staff who helped
make our school’s participation possible.
