Only certain CPR courses will sufficiently meet this requirement. Therefore, it is the student’s responsibility to obtain a determination from the faculty member. REQUIRED TEXT(S): Jones & Bartlett Publishing - “Emergency Care and Transportation of the Sick and Injured” 10th edition by American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) (ISBN 9781284032840), and its associated workbook (ISBN 9781284045093). Both books may be available in a discount combination package. Students may use the e-text if he/she wishes to do so. However, a print version, unused workbook is required for the course. A used textbook is acceptable if the student so desires. The textbook and workbook are both available at the University Bookstore. COURSE DESCRIPTION: Training and education is provided through classroom lecture, class/group discussion (didactic), skill demonstration and practice (lab), and actual patient care observation in either an emergency room or in a pre-hospital setting (clinical/field internship). The course includes basic life support procedures with evaluation, planning, interventions, and reevaluation in regards to the acutely ill or injured patient.
