SUMMER 2016 STUDY ABROAD PHOTO CONTEST SPONSORED BY THE CENTER FOR INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION OFFICIAL RULES PRIVACY: Xavier University’s Center for International Education is committed to the privacy of your information. You are providing your information to Xavier University’s Center for International Education and not to Instagram, etc. CONTEST TERMS: By entering into the contest, you agree to be bound by these Official Rules and to waive any right to claim of ambiguity or error in these Official Rules or the contest itself. By entering the contest, you agree to release your Contest images to Xavier University’s Center for International Education (CIE) and for the CIE to use these images for the Education Abroad website [http://www.xavier.edu/study-abroad] and/or on other websites and media, for non-profit educational uses, as well as for the purposes of professional development and promotion of the Center for International Education’s activities. ELIGIBILTY & HOW TO ENTER: To enter the contest, you must be enrolled in an approved study abroad program through Xavier University (Cincinnati, Ohio). The study abroad program can be faculty-led, independent, or through a third-party provider; and, the student must be registered in Studio Abroad on a Summer 2016 program to be eligible. Only followers of @XUInternational on Instagram will be eligible to win. There is no limit to the number of photos submitted per student. Beginning on Monday, May 9, 2016 at 8:00AM EST photos may be submitted into the contest. Students must post all photos to Instagram prior to Friday, August 12, 2016 at 11:59PM EST for the photo to be successfully entered into the contest, and be eligible for the voting part of the contest. To submit a photo to the contest: follow @XUInternational, snap a photo of their Summer 2016 study abroad experience, tag @XUInternational, and use the official contest hashtag #XUStudyAbroad in the caption to be eligible. By doing these three things and following @XUInternational, students agree to release the image to the Center for International Education as explained above. VOTING & CONTEST WINNERS: After all photos are submitted to the contest, the Center for International Education photo contest committee will evaluate the photos against the six (6) categories: Landscapes & Landmarks: Photo(s) should be of the local sites in your host city/cities. Photos might be of landscapes, landmarks and buildings. The Global Classroom: Photo(s) should be of you and your classmates learning abroad. Photo(s) can be of students in a classroom setting or field study. All for One and One for All: Photo(s) should be of you and your classmates during your time abroad and should be taken in your host city/location. Cultural Engagement: Photo(s) should be of local residents and culture, students participation during cultural events/activities, or engagement with local culture. Foodie: Photo(s) should be of traditional dishes and foods tried in your host city/cities. X Marks the Spot: Photo(s) should include students holding up the X or inclusion of the Xavier flag. These photos could include the entire group, a few students, or individual. The Center for International Education photo contest committee will evaluate the photos based on artistic merit and exhibit a sense of place or culture in a country outside the United States, and value for a study abroad experience while studying at Xavier. Five to ten photos will be selected for each category to the be voted upon. Voting will begin during the Fall Week of Welcome (Sunday, August 21st to Tuesday, August 30th). You will be notified if your photo has been selected for the voting portion. All photos will be uploaded to a Facebook album titled “Summer 2016 Study Abroad Photo Contest)” on the Xavier International Facebook page. The Xavier community will be invited to participate in the contest during Week of Welcome and to vote on a photo from each category. The photos with the most likes in each category will win a prize – the photo with the overall most likes will win the grand prize. The winners will be announced and awarded their prize at International Coffee Hour on Wednesday, August 31st (3:30pm-4:30pm in the Faces of the World Lounge).
