LIVING OUR FAITH
M. TOMCZAK
SECRETARY
PASTOR
Gracious and merciful God of all creation,
During this season of hope, we remember how you sent your Son to be a
beacon of goodness and light in the world.
Give us eyes of hope to see the good in everything and everyone around us.
Give us the grace and strength to be beacons of hope and light
for all who enter our lives.
May your virtue of hope guide our decisions for the service of all your people.
We ask this in name of Jesus, Your Son, who lived to show us Your way.

Blessed Christmas Season.
May the spirit of the season fill your hearts with Peace, Joy, Love and Hope.
Thank you for your continuous
support throughout the year!
Christian Outreach
Awaiting the birth of Our Lord, we look beyond the pre-Christmas frenzy to see a
world in need of the hope and light which only God can give. Please join us in our
quest to reach out to all of those in need of God’s touch as we approach this most
Holy Season.
St. Basil is asked to extend their generosity by contributing any non-perishable food
item to the school which will help provide food for those in need in our community.
Your help with this cause would be greatly appreciated. Please give generously!
W hen we serve others, we serve God.

Parish News
You are invited to join the St. Basil School Community
at a Family Advent Mass at Sts. Martha and Mary
Church on Thursday, December 10, at 7:00 p.m. Our
Junior/Intermediate division teachers will be leading
this joyous event. This is wonderful opportunity to
celebrate the Advent season in prayer and song. The
School Council invites you for fellowship in the church
hall after Mass.
The season of Advent begins with the fourth
Sunday before Christmas.
This year, the liturgical season of Advent begins
Sunday, November 29, 2015. “Advent” is a Latin
word meaning “the coming”.
During the season of Advent, Christians across
the world prepare for the celebration of the
coming of the Lord into the world through the
birth of His Son, Jesus Christ. As a school we will
participate in weekly Advent prayers.

Lord and spread peace, joy, love and hope to
those around us!
VIRTUE OF THE MONTH: HOPE
God helps us to keep on working for a more peaceful world even when we feel discouraged.

Digital Citizenship
All students recently received Personal Electronic
Device used with Wi-Fi Network Student Agreement
(GF 337). The student Agreement needs to be signed
and returned back to the school before students are
permitted to use personal electronic devices (PEDs) on
school property. PED’s are only to be brought in and
used under the direction of staff, to support
learning.
PEDs are personal electronic devices that include, but
are not limited to laptops, tablets, cell phones,
smartphones, etc.
Students will be required to register their PED on the
student home page located on the Board website.
Any student opting to use Personal Electronic Devices
(PEDs) while on school premises for educational
purposes is required to adhere to the rules within the
agreement and the agreement needs to be reviewed
with the parent and student.
Through the use of IPADS here at the school, students
are learning to become respectful digital citizens.

Fundraising Update
Thank you to all those that participated in the coat drive.
Hats, scarves, coats, sweaters were collected and much
appreciated. These will go to families in need in our
community. Thank you to Ms. Galego and Ms. Bryan for
taking the initiative in this project.
Our Share Life Book Sale was a HUGE success thanks to
YOU!! You were all so wonderful with your donations.
Mrs. Areias and her class organized this event and
they worked very hard to sort and price the books and
supervise the sale. Well done! 18 staff members took
part in wearing Cowboy Hats as well in support of this.
We raised over $1000 in one day!!!!!
Holiday Time with Family
Why not take advantage of the time away from school
to focus on some outdoor fun! Enjoy the fresh air and
beautiful winter weather with your family. Skating,
tobogganing and walks in the winter wonderland bring
families and friends closer during the holiday season.
Enjoy your time off from regular school duties. Take
time to pray the Rosary with your family too!
Dates to Remember
School Council also supports our Craft day during this
Advent season, offering each class $2 per student to
contribute towards a family craft for Christmas.
School Council will be paying for the students to have
Scientists in the School here at St. Basil once again this
year. Every class will be offered a session.
Join us at our next meeting to be held in the New Year on
January 19th, 2016.

Please do not drop off your children prior to 8:30 a.m.as
there is no supervision in the yard. On the other hand
many students are arriving late to school.
The bell rings promptly at 8:45 a.m. and all children are
expected to be in class and ready to learn at this time.
Arriving late to school is very disruptive. Please DO NOT
ring the outside doorbell. We will NOT answer the bell
while we are praying.
