APRIL’S VIRTUE - LOVE
PRAYER FOR THE EASTER SEASON
God, give us eyes to see
the beauty of the spring,
and to behold Your Majesty
In every living thing.
May we see in lacy leaves
and every budding flower
the hand that rules the universe
with gentleness and power.
May this Easter grandeur
that spring lavishly imparts
awaken faded flowers of faith
lying dormant in our hearts.
Give us ears to hear, dear God
the springtime song of birds
with messages more meaningful
than man’s often empty words
telling harried human beings
who are lost in dark despair
be like us and do not worry
for God has you in His care.
~Helen Steiner~

ST. BONAVENTURE ECO NEWS!
On Wednesday, March 30th
the staff and students at St.
Bonaventure participated in
Earth Hour. This effort called
on all Canadians to join other
countries in sending a strong
global message – that this is
the year we focus on climate change! Earth Hour, which
is observed on six continents, 120 countries, and 24 time
zones, demonstrates a globally unified community, making our voices heard through the individual action of
turning off the lights. As with all of our Eco-initiatives,
it is our hope that our practices extend beyond the school
and into our homes and communities. Thank you for
supporting us in our efforts!
We also look forward to the warmer weather because
students and staff at St. Bonaventure are eager to get outside and work in our school garden. We will continue to
focus on building biodiversity with the use of strong hardy plants and careful planning. We are always interested
in volunteers with a “green thumb”. Please contact
the Office if you are interested.
PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED ECO INSERT FOR
MORE ECO NEWS AT ST. BONAVENTURE.
THANK YOU TO OUR COMMITTEE.

CLASS LIST FORMATON FOR 2016- 2017
We will soon begin the process of making up the class
lists for next Fall. This is a complex procedure which
takes into consideration not only the needs of the individual child, but frames those needs in the context of the
larger classroom group. In each class we strive for a balance of learning styles, a balance of gender, a balance of
learning needs and a cross-section of abilities.
The current teachers of a grade, support staff and administration all take part in the process. If you wish to provide input into the process, please take into consideration
the following guidelines: Input must be made in writing
to the Principal. Requests should be made in terms of
educational contexts, e.g. your child’s learning needs/
strengths/style, information not already known to the
school, best learning environment. Please do not make
requests for specific teachers as staffing is always tentative and changes can take place between now and September. PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED LETTER FOR
PARENT INPUT AT BACK OF NEWSLETTER.
MORE UPCOMING IMPORTANT DATES:
HEALTH AND NUTRITION
In conjunction with Peel Health, and the DPCDSB, St.
Bonaventure students have been given the opportunity to
participate in a Cooking Revolution Program. Our students are learning health and safety around food preparation, and how to make quick, healthy snacks/lunches.
The staff (Mrs. Gaipo, Mrs. Van Schie, Ms. Poerba and
Mrs. Cann) and the students involved, are eager to share
what they have learned about health and nutrition with
our school community. Our Catholic School Council ProGrant application will focus on a health and nutrition
initiative for the Fall of 2016.
ALLERGIES AT ST. BONAVENTURE SCHOOL!
CELEBRATIONS
Celebrating birthdays or other occasions with friends is
important to all.
Some families choose to have special celebrations and
invite friends to their homes, or out to a special location
for parties. We do have requests from some parents
that birthday treats be shared with classmates. We are
happy to assist with the sharing of NON FOOD treats
ONLY. Due to a significant number of students who
suffer from life threatening allergies, we are asking you
to refrain from sending food to be shared with classmates.
Thank you for your continued support!
