UEP CRITERIA & BENEFITS of PARTICIPATION

Minimum Requirements








Admission to the University of Houston Main Campus
Completion of Application I (Personal Data Form)
No GPA requirement (Individual Circumstances Considered)
Membership enrollment will be offered during the first three weeks of each semester
Students will submit an application and will interview with UEP office staff
Admitted students will be required to meet with the Director/Graduate Assistant within the first
two months of the semester to develop an academic performance action plan
Admitted students will be expected to attend UEP events / programs
Admitted students meet monthly with their student leader liaison to review their academic action
plan
Additional Requirements






Must demonstrate financial need
Complete a personal essay
Personal interview
Recommendation letters
First or second generation to attend college
Personal obstacles or family difficulties
Membership Benefits










Individualized services and assistance (each person is able to bring their personal need for us to
meet or assist)
Receive guidance in developing a personalized academic/student success action plan
Initial alert about exciting and new upcoming programs and services
One on one mentoring from upperclassmen students and staff
Leadership opportunities to represent the University at prestigious engagements
Increased opportunity to become a student leader within the UEP office
Only Members qualify to apply for Educational Equity Leader Advancement Award
