We believe in fostering an environment that instills a co-operative spirit within the family, the church, the school, and the broader community. We believe in communicating, supporting, sharing, interacting, caring and working in harmony so that goals of excellence can be pursued with vigour and confidence. Motto Queen of Heaven Catholic School: Together in Faith and Learning Catholic Focus Queen of Heaven Elementary School, which is at 1198 Alexandra Avenue, was built by Separate School Section No. 7, Lakeview, to accommodate the Catholic population growth in the area. It opened in 1960 followed by a series of additions in 1963, 1964 and 1966 to the building, before its complete overhaul in 2001. The school is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin and the name acknowledges that Mary the Mother of Jesus Christ went directly to Heaven in physical form, body, and soul, after her death. In 1950 Pope Pius XII proclaimed the Assumption of Mary as a dogma of faith. A beautiful, life size statue of Mary graces the front foyer of the school. The school community embraces its motto, “Together in Faith and Learning” through activities including Share Life,United Way, Terry Fox Walk and The Annual Christmas Hat, Mitten, and Food Drive in support of the St. Dominic’s Church. Student and staff faith ambassadors work together to plan and create monthly liturgical experiences for the entire student body. Queen of Heaven is a caring school and community environment that stresses tolerance and acceptance of others, commitment to the Catholic faith and high academic standards. The school community provides a safe, caring and inclusive learning environment where models of gospel values and Catholic doctrines, teachings and beliefs are an integral part of the daily life of the school.
