The Barren County Board has entered into an agreement with One Call Now to provide a telephone communication
service to assist Barren County Schools in “timely and instantaneous” parent notification. The One Call Now service may
be used in several critical communication areas to expedite information to you – the parent/guardian (these are just a few
areas):
- school cancellation, or delays, due to inclement weather
- emergency school situations
- upcoming field trips
- PTA/PTO events
- club activities
- child’s lunch accounts
- sports schedules
- teacher-to-parent updates on homework, tests, conferences
- transportation/bus scheduling
- superintendent messages
- principal messages
The One Call Now Service will help Barren County Schools become more efficient and effective in providing
immediate and updated information on your child and school activities.
The number(s) this service will call-out to (ex. your home, cell, etc) will be the most recent numbers currently
provided to us and stored in our student management database. This telephone service will store up to four (“4”) numbers
per child and it is “very important” your child’s school is notified when numbers change to ensure accurate and correct
numbers. We have attached a “roster card” card which you can list up to four (“4”) numbers for your child. Please
remember, if one of the numbers is your office number, we will need to dial direct to your desk phone and not through a
switchboard.
In addition we have attached a “quick guide” card which shows you how you can call-in to the One Call Now service
and retrieve the school message if you “missed” the message earlier.
Please remember this service will leave a message to your home answering machine, voice mail service or cell phone
voice mail etc. The system will try to call the number(s) you list for up to two (1-2) days and leave you a message before
suspending the call-out. The school’s caller identification will appear on your caller id display if you have caller id.
Lastly, you can choose to opt-out of this service by notifying the school where your child attends and/or writing “optout” on the enclosed roster card. Remember, writing opt-out on the form may prevent you from receiving vital
school information you might need or want immediately.

