Subject: Secondary Students- Compulsory Day Retreat

The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board supports offering a compulsory day retreat for all secondary school students.
REGULATIONS
8.08 Secondary Students- Compulsory Day Retreats a) Each year, all Dufferin-Peel secondary schools shall offer a compulsory day retreat for all students. b) All secondary school retreats shall follow one of the three (3) approved models. c) Students, board-wide, shall be charged a consistent annual fee of Twenty Dollars
($20.00), for faith formation initiatives, which will include an annual day retreat. d) The Board shall allocate the sum of Ten Dollars ($10.00) per student, to each secondary school, for retreats and faith formation. This allocation shall be noted on a special budget line on the school cost center. e) Every secondary school shall include a statement in their course calendar and in their student handbook/agenda, clearly indicating the compulsory nature of faith development in a Catholic school. f) A Committee consisting of representation from the Religious Education/Family Life
Department, school administrators and school Chaplains, shall meet every three (3) years to review and make recommendations to modify the policy.
