SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Teacher shall comply with all policies, rules, regulations, procedures and directions of
the Board of Education, Superintendent of Schools and Directors to whom they are directly responsible
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: Must have no convictions of a felony or past criminal history, be
in good health as evidenced by completion of a physical examination as prescribed by the Board. Must be of
good character and moral behavior. Must possess a proper state teaching certificate for the grade levels to
which the teacher is assigned. Prior experience in a virtual/digital learning environment is preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
All teachers shall:
 Set goals and objectives, plan learning activities related to the goals and objectives in order to teach the
skills and/or content materials and evaluate and report the progress of the pupils assigned to him/her.
 Prepare unit plans, goals and objectives and learning objectives using the adopted curriculum guide for
each subject area and class
 Understand the unique needs of the digital/virtual learning student and environment.
 Positively motivate pupils to have success in learning
 Evaluate the progress of each pupil
 Supervise all pupils assigned to them.
 Aid other teachers and staff members in cooperative phrases of the instructional program
 Attend all faculty, departmental and other school related meetings and serve on
committees as
determined by the immediate supervisor, building principal or Superintendent of his designee
 Prepare complete and up-to-date lesson plans which provide goals, objectives and learning activities for
pupils assigned
 Complete all forms and reports that are assigned by the immediate supervisor.
 Exhibits positive, helpful attitude toward all pupils in order to help them develop and mature mentally,
physically, emotionally and socially
 Report attendance, discipline and like problems to the immediate supervisor.
 Treat and maintain properly all equipment, materials, supplies and textbooks assigned to him/her
 Be familiar with all teacher and district handbooks and adhere to policies of the Board of Education and
administrative procedures
 Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
 Will be required to complete all required training and attend in-service sessions.
 Performs assigned tasks in a timely manner.
 Consistently displays self-control with parents, students and school personnel.
 Promptly respond to all communications.
 Be consistently responsible and display an attitude of honesty and credibility.
 Show enthusiasm, interest and concern for the total program and its efficient operation.
 Operate equipment in a safe manner at all times.
 Demonstrate positive behavior toward the purposes and goals of the Barren County Public Schools.
 Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
1. Work year is comprised of the number of days as designated by BAVEL and board policy.
2. Salary commensurate with adopted salary schedule.
3. The employee is an “at will” employee and the superintendent may terminate this employment at any
time.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s
policy on Evaluation of Personnel.
