SHRM@NSU Spring 2014 Newsletter "Real success is finding your lifework in the work that you love." - David McCullough SHRM Leadership Conference Reaching Out to Young Scholars SHRM @ NSU students partnered up with the Nicholls College of Business to promote their programs to high school students participating in literary rally on Nicholls campus. This was a great opportunity for SHRM @ NSU to get incoming students interested in the society and to show them the potential that a membership can provide them with. Members of SHRM @ NSU worked very hard and had an extremely successful turnout at the etiquette dinner. Every table in the building was accompanied by an entertained crowd. Mixes of students, families, and business professionals enjoyed a wonderful evening of fun and learning. Prizes were donated by various companies throughout the community so a few lucky guests left with something more than they came with, (well besides their newly discovered etiquette skills that is). The etiquette dinner is SHRM @ NSU’s only fundraiser which made having such a large turnout that much more beneficial. Show a Little Etiquette SHRM @ NSU president, Julie Lear accompanied vice president, Bianca Payne, advisor Mrs. Boudreaux, and special guest Mary on bayou time television to promote their big fundraiser. Turns out their special guest was Mrs. Boudreaux’s mother, who coincidentally runs an etiquette business of her own. Special Congratulations Congratulations go out to our newly initiated officers: President- Julie Lear Vice President & Merit Award Chair-Bianca Payne, Secretary – Leslie Baldassaro Treasurer & External Relations- Jerica Nelson Congratulations to our 2014 Bayou SHRM scholarship recipients Julie Lear and Shelly Naquin.
