How to use this book

This book contains the modules that are available to incoming exchange students who are studying in Term 1 or Term 2 only.

You should choose your modules from this book and should ensure that your home institution is happy with the modules that you have chosen. This is your responsibility and Plymouth Business School will not be liable if your home institution does not accept the modules that you have chosen as valid for your programme of study.

International Communication and an Introduction to Language Analysis.

Language modules

Elective modules in Languages are available to exchange students on the Plymouth campus, if your programme of study has sufficient elective space.

The languages offered are French, German and Spanish, which can be studied at any level, from Basic to Advanced. Spanish is also available as an intensive, fast-track module for beginners*.

*Students are not permitted to take a module in their native language.

There is also a module available entitled ‘English for Academic Purposes’, for non-native speakers of English.

How to enrol

During Induction Week in September there will be language sessions which you will need to attend. Times of these sessions will be advertised in the Cookworthy Building. Academic staff will be available to assess your level and decide which module is most appropriate for you.

Once you have been assessed and know which module to undertake you will need to indicate this on the enrolment form which will be given to you at the enrolment session. Please note: it is essential that you see a member of the languages staff in Cookworthy to have your level assessed before you enter a language module on your enrolment form.
