At WKU we prepare
students to be competent
engineering practitioners
by combining traditional
coursework with
extensive involvement
in meaningful projects
at every level of their
college career. Our
industrial partners are visionary companies who
facilitate this in many ways: with showcases of
their work, with student employment before
and after graduation, with faculty-led industrial
research, and with industrial problems for
courses and senior design projects. Industrial
partners also serve on our advisory boards. We
invite you to contact Debbie Berry, our Industrial
Partnership Coordinator, to discuss your needs
and interests. She is our industrial liaison—our
“watering can”—nurturing the people and
processes to bring industrial experiences and
WKU Engineering together to cultivate the
region’s engineering talent. Thanks to Logan
Aluminum for providing the initial funding for
our WKU Engineering Industrial Partnership. We
are excited about our current partners and the
future growth of our program.
I am the WKU Engineering
Industrial Partnership
Coordinator. I filled the
new position in July 2011
and have currently been
working with our local
and regional industries in
the areas of engineering
employment, projects,
and partnership growth. My background in
industrial engineering, operations management,
sales and marketing has afforded me a strong
skill set to use in connecting our academic world
here in WKU engineering with our industrial
partners in the world of practicing engineers. I
look forward to the opportunity of assisting our
students, faculty, and industrial partners to make
connections together as we foster the continued
growth of our partnership and experience
exciting opportunities in engineering.
Sincerely,
Debbie Berry

A Message from Randy Schumaker,
President of Logan Aluminum, Inc.
Our vision in establishing the WKU Engineering
Industrial Partnership was to provide WKU’s
engineering students with greater access to
real-life problem solving opportunities in the
local manufacturing companies throughout
Bowling Green and the surrounding counties.
This Industrial Partnership will be one vehicle
to build and grow the necessary relationships
between WKU’s Engineering Department and
local manufacturers as we contribute to the
development of highly qualified engineers. As
industrial partners, we have the opportunity
to help the engineering program thrive and to
produce highly qualified graduates to fill our
employment needs. The opportunity to work
side by side with some of the most promising
engineering students in the region translates
into great value for our companies in improving
the quality of our workforce as well as
improving the retention of engineers as future
full time employees.
