cylindrical storage container. The water container has a volume 0.477m3 and a
diameter of 0.800m.
a. Solve for the velocity of the stream as it leaves the water container.

b. If the hole is 1.25m from the ground find the range of the stream. (ans: 2.17m )
2. In 1640 Gasparo Berti, an Italian mathematician took a long sealed tube filled with
water and opened one end under water (see picture). Some of the water in the tube
flowed out, but every time he did the experiment and no matter the tube diameter
the height of the water still in the tube was 10.33m.
a. Use Bernoulli’s Equations to calculate this result. (ans: 10.33m)
b. If the liquid inside is replaced with mercury find the height of the liquid
in the column. (ans: 760mm)
