This mission directive implements policy guidance in AFPD 10-1, Mission Directives, AFI 10-101, For­
mat and Content of Mission Directives, AFPD 38-1, Organization, and AFI 38-101, Air Force Organiza­
tion. It does not apply to the Air National Guard or the United States Air Force Reserve. Its purpose is to
prescribe unit mission, organization, and processes.
1. Mission. Provides musical support for military ceremonies, protocol functions, troop morale and
retention events, recruiting activities, community relations, and Department of Defense activities in con­
junction with public affairs efforts to communicate messages that promote United States Air Force goals
and objectives and enhance and sustain bilateral international relations.
2. Command. The USAF Band of the Pacific is responsible to the Director of Public Affairs, HQ Pacific
Air Forces (HQ PACAF/PA) for administrative management.
2.1. The USAF Band of the Pacific at Elmendorf AFB AK is responsible to the Commander, Elev­
enth Air Force (11 AF/CC) for providing musical support for official events.
2.2. USAF Band of the Pacific-Asia (Detachment 1) at Yokota AB JA is responsible to the Com­
manders, Fifth Air Force (5 AF/CC), Seventh Air Force (7 AF/CC), and Thirteenth Air Force (13 AF/
CC) for providing musical support for official events.
2.3. USAF Band of the Pacific-Hawaii (Operating Location A) at Hickam AFB HI is responsible to
the Commander, Pacific Air Forces (COMPACAF) for providing musical support for official events.

3. Responsibilities. Each band provides military/patriotic, dance, and/or background music for official
functions. Also provides miscellaneous instrument combos and individual musicians to the fullest extent
practicable.
