2.4 Solving Equations with Variables on both sides
Objective: Be able to solve equations with variables on both sides and be able to
identify equations that are identities or have no solution.
Steps for Solving Equations:
1) Use the distributive property to remove parentheses on each side
2) Combine like terms on each side­ This may now include moving equations from one side to another
3) Undo the addition or subtraction
4) Undo the multiplication or division
Identity: an equation that is true for every possible value of the variable.
No solution: Equation where there is no value for the variable to make it true
