Ecology P.S.A
Directions: A Public Service Announcement is a commercial which makes the viewer aware of a certain
problem or epidemic affecting the world/the human race/or some other animal.
You are going to make between a 1 minute and 1 minute and 30 second public service announcement
regarding any one of the following ecological problems. This will be a video production which you are going to
upload to www.youtube.com. You may work in groups of 1, 2, or 3 with ANYONE from any of my three classes
of Biology 6.0.
The one minute service announcement should do the following:
1. Explain the problem
2. Why we need to solve it
3. How we should solve it.
P.S.A’s are not funny, but do not have to be boring either. They are used to reach you on an emotional level.
Creativity is encouraged.
1. Endangered Species (Pick one particular species)
2. Global Warming
3. Pollution
4. Global Population
5. Nonrenewable Resources Supply (i.e – Fossil Fuels)
6. Disease epidemics in developing countries (pick one particular disease)
7. Rainforest Depletion
8. Ozone Layer
9. Loss of Biodiversity
The following infractions will cause a subtraction of points from your score:

Running short or over the time allotted.
Not addressing any one of the three things that need to be included in the dialogue or presentation.
Lack of focus or direction in the commercial. (Leaves a bit of confusion with the audience)
Not uploaded to youtube on the day of the presentation
Poor Quality of work
Typo’s, Grammar Errors, Incorrect Information
You will be given a rating of how easy it was to put your project together between 1 and 5. (1 = very easy
project : 5 = time consuming project)
Some groups in the past have used a digital video camera to shoot their P.S.A’s, while others have utilized
window’s movie maker, which is an easy to use program.
