College of Health & Human Services Living Learning Community Hello and welcome to the WKU family! I would like to personally welcome you to the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) at Western Kentucky University. The mission of the college is to provide diverse educational opportunities leading to excellence in Health and Human Services for a global community. Your first year as a Hilltopper will set the tone and foundation of your ongoing success the next four years. The College of Health & Human Services wants to assist you in any way that we can to better prepare you and help you succeed during your first year on the hill. One way we do this is through our Living Learning Community (LLC). SO WHAT EXACTLY IS AN LLC? 1. A group of 25 students come together because of shared academic interests. The CHHS LLC students live on the same floor of their single gender residence hall. 2. Students who sign up for the LLC have one full year of linked courses together to help develop strong relationships with peers, faculty, and professionals in areas of interests. 3. During this opportunity, members will be able to gain leadership and teamwork skills through LLC projects, volunteer opportunities, and campus activities. WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS? You will have the opportunity to: 1. Build a network of peers that have similar interests and experiences. 2. Have a reserved seat in popular courses for registration. 3. Host evening study sessions with peers in the same classes. 4. Be in a supportive atmosphere to enhance the academic performance. If you are interested in being a part of this great group of students, please fill out and submit the enclosed application for CHHS Living Learning Community. Once again, welcome to WKU and the College of Health and Human Services. I am looking forward to hearing from you soon! Go TOPS!
