One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest - Creative Project Options Each group must choose two (2) to complete and present. Please note all language must be school-appropriate! Option #1: 6 Word Fiction (50 Points) Six word fiction reveals much using few words. Choose five (5) characters from our novel and write his/her story in six words. For example, here are a few stories (not related to our characters): For sale: Baby shoes, never worn. Living with Alzheimer’s: New friends daily! Home run. Catch! eBay auction. Rich! A-level work: Creative and original story Excellent use of punctuation/diction Realistic for character, either during or after story Uses humorous/serious/sarcastic tone as is applies to character Option #2: Bumper Stickers (50 points) Design a bumper sticker for three of the characters in the novel that one would expect to see on the bumper of their cars or displaced in their homes. For each bumper sticker, design it, create it, and explain its appropriateness in a paragraph beneath it. A-level work: Creative and original design Excellent use of color Eye-catching Realistic size Uses humorous/serious/sarcastic tone as it applies to character Option #3: Literary Devices (50 points) This option requires you to analyze specific literary techniques or devices’ effects on the novel. Some possible examples could include the use of language/dialect, foreshadowing, characterization, symbolism, or the unique point of view. Choose five literary devices used in the novel, provide an example quoted (and cited) from the novel, and explain the effect of the device on the passage, chapter, or novel. Create a chart which reveals your findings! A-level work: Clear and easy to understand Simply designed Size is appropriate for the information included Shows level or complexity for literary devices Examples cited and accurately provided Reveals depth of understanding of literary devices and novel Option #4: Musical Accompaniment (50 points) Imagine a new film version of Cuckoo’s Nest will be made in the coming year, and you are in charge of the musical accompaniment. Choose at least seven scenes from the novel, and choose a song that captures the mood, tone, or events of each scene (one song per scene). For this section you will be required to actually create the playlist and embed a piece of the music in your presentation. Ever tried Musical.ly? That may be a good option here! Also provide 4-6 sentences explaining how EACH song accurately and appropriately captures the essence of the scene. Please provide the explanations on a typed document.
